In an interesting twist, CBS reports that 5 players will walk-out on the team if Sampson is not coaching the games. Of these 5, Eric Gordon and DJ White lead the charge. AD angerly replied questioning if they should cancel the season. Players reply saying they don't care what he does.

Spoiler Alert: Bruce Willis was dead the whole time!

      WWTWD?

      What would Tim Weiser Do?

Edit - Ahfield and White are Seniors, Taber is a Junior and Gordon is a sure fire lottery pick next year.

Dont let the door hit you on the way out

Either Sampson has the players convinced he is not guilty, or these players don't care what Sampson may be guilty of and they just want to win at any cost. If they truly believe Sampson is innocent, I get it. But Sampson has lied before -- what makes them think he isn't lying now. Of course, one of the players taking the lead in this is Eric Gordon and we know how wishy-washy his thought process is. This is tough on the players and I admire the fact that they are sticking with their coach -- I only hope that loyalty is not misplaced. If the NCAA finds Sampson guilty this summer, these players are bound to feel betrayed. And again, can you imagine what Sampson's new recruits are going through. What a mess!

If those guys walk out, it will probably finish their college careers and negatively impact their potential draft status. Sure it looks good that you are sticking by your coach, but c'mon.

Can a school kick you out for not fulfilling your obligations to your scholarship? That really is a contract, and if they breech it, can the school come back on them and take it back or make them pay for the second semester of classes?

For 3 of them they are done after this year eitherway.

As far as draft status only 2 of them are getting drafted and one wont his status affected at all. The other late first round to second round.

We see eye to eye on FJM but I strongly disagree with you here. Whitlock is one of the best in the business.

Whitlock has his moments. And has gotten better in the past year or two. But he still has a lot of work to do to make up for all the absolute crap he wrote in all the previous years.

Sub touched on it. He has his moments.

But heres an example from the posted article.

Fire Kelvin Sampson for a lack of common sense. Do not dispose of him under the false pretense that he is unethical, immoral, dishonorable or unprincipled
Are you serious? No matter how small the violation might be *I think phone calls is a rather dumb issue as compared to say the Reggie Bush situation* But the man got caught BREAKING RULES. He gets in trouble for said rule breakage. And in about a years time after he "got in trouble" the idiot GETS CAUGHT AGAIN. I always thought breaking the rules was "unethical" and "dishonarable" and "unprincipled". But what do i know.

WIth all or most of his articles they tend to be good or well thought out then he has to throw something in there that is completley stupid and inane or whatever word you want to use.

And Whitlock is far from "against the grain" he's perfect where he is now on FOX with the rest of dumbasses. But thats another story for another time.

Come on, he is not your normal guy. He's made his name by saying things that others won't.

You can find any mediot and point to something you (and me) don't agree with that's easy. Whitlock's columns always make me think, either stongly agreeing or disagreeing. That's what I love about him.

I texted my sports loving equal to me when the news broke. He wrote me back with "Indiana is stupid" Of course I think and worte him back with, "No, Kelvin Sampson is stupid". I just like to see both sides. Last week Indiana fans were chanting his name, now he's cooked. Everyone sees things differently.

Its not even the Indiana/Kelvin Sampson debacle. There is no otherside to this one. Dude got caught and now he has no job. And I am happy for this. Rest assured with it Barry Hinson in the same debacle the NCAA might disband the team but thats neither here nor there.

JW has said to many dumbass things in the past.

And just because people say things that others wont doesnt make it right. I could yell and curse at everybody saying "The Sky is red". Nobody else in their right mind would say that but I would also be an idiot and should be treated as such.

WSU should keep Sampson in mind in the event they are searching for a new coach in the coming years.

He's a good man, and in my opinion the very best basketball coach in the country.

We're not talking about bags of cash or new cars here. We're talking about phone calls. The way his players love him really says a lot.

For some reason this got blown up into a bigger deal than it is.

Are you kidding? If you're on probation for a drug violation and you know your Parole Officer is administering weekly drug tests, you don't do drugs.

If you're on NCAA probation for making illegal contact with recruits and you know the NCAA is watching your contact with recruits, you don't make illegal contact with recruits.

Maybe text messaging is a "minor" violation, but if you get a minor violation and a "slap on the wrist" for the minor violation and a serious warning about never doing that again - and then you do it again - and there are terms in your employment contract that you won't do what got you into trouble....
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Sampson would never be hired here and for good reason.
