However, a player can receive a partial scholarship even on a head count sport team but that scholly will COUNT as full scholly. The unallocated portion of the scholarship cannot be used on another player. So financially strapped institutions can give partial scholarships to basketball and football players but the maximum number of recipients is set in stone.
In conversation with the basketball coach, he was discussing the reason that Joe Mitchell did not play for WSU. He said that Coach Marshall only offered Joe a 1/2 scholarship.

Maybe 1/2 scholarship is what Joe got as a transfer student (not related to basketball) and the basketball coach just got his information mixed up.

Is there a countdown clock for basketball season somewhere?
I am about to go cray cray.

Possible, but again, that would have counted as a full scholly as far as head count goes.

With two years remaining, I bet HCGM offered Joe a one year scholarship.

So 3G offered Mitchell the same thing he offers all his players?

And I bet Mitchell got frustrated and left when he found out he wasn't going to play much or even be guaranteed a scholarship if he wasn't earning it. I think it had never occurred to him before that he could get beat out of a spot. As much as I wanted him around and I wanted to like him, he made it hard by accusing Marshall of deceiving him. I think we all know it probably wasn't like that.

I think all scholarships are for 1year. And if the coach decides not to bring back a player they usually try to help them find another school. When this happens the transfer is said to be mutual and that the player was concerned about role or playing time. As far as Hamilton redshirting that wouldn't solve the problem. Redshirts are counted as one of the 13 allowed. Either someone is leaving, giving up their scholarship, or the Sunrise signee comes in as a non recruited student exemption. And I'm not sure if that applies here. Not am I sure if that player is counted as a scholarship athlete.

I seem to remember hearing rumors that Ron and Joe were offered the same deal: redshirt and walk-on for a year and then get remaining years of scholarship. Ron took it. Joe went to Ohio for the summer but then wanted to come back here. By that point, our scholarship situation was set and did not include Joe, both for that year and the foreseeable future after that.

YES. And I will take Ron Baker "breaking the ankles" of other elite guards and Fresh Van Fluid and Fleet going toe to toe with the best PG's in the nation into the finals at Cp3 all year long, too.

The early reports are pretty good so far. Now I'm interested in TKO Cotton, although I think we all know that he is stealing balls, dunking in transition to close out scrimmage wins emphatically, and giving 100% from morning till night.

I can't wait to hear about the status and development of the new guys.

Darius also scored 10 points in the final game that was lost to Quatar too.

Edwards was one of three players in double figures with 14 points on 5-of-10 field goals, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range, to go with seven rebounds and one assist. Kansas’ Landen Lucas led all scorers with 15 points on 4-of-7 shooting to go with a game-high 13 rebounds. Wichita State’s Darius Carter also registered double digits with 10 points.
