That seems a bit silly to me. Marshall isn't trying to be the "bigger man". Not saying he is being petty either. I'm saying that is just not the issue.

Marshall is simply trying his best to schedule quality teams, and he would be silly not to atleast try to grab one of the 2 such teams that are practically next door.

Would it be considered petty, uncouth or disrespectful to place an advertisement in the Lawrence, Manhattan and Wichita newspapers inviting a match between WSU?KU and/or WSU/KSU? Get it out in the open, on the record, and see what happens.

Not anything but innuendo, really. Have you seen anything specific that says WSU has asked KU or KSU to play a specific game or games in any specific timeframe? Self, Weber and Marshall have all talked around it (like politicians), but I haven't ever seen something that says, we asked "play us on ____" and they answered, "No." An ad would get at least the inquiry in writing.

Would have already happened if SOMEBODY was capable of actually winning a game in the tournament every now and then.

KU not wanting to play is expected.. All's they care about is ESPN contracts and people on the coasts watching them play. Even though the Self regime has delivered some duds with 1st round exits. Winning the national championship in 2008 just made them feel important again and didn't help the argument to schedule Wsu at all.. Ksu not wanting to play is just a joke. I could go on, but most importantly they need to give their fan base a reason to watch Ksu basketball besides when they play Ku. Bramalage always gets made fun of, by everyone during the non-conference schedule cuse it's less less than half full! They schedule pud games instead of teams like Wsu that would fill bramlage because they are so affraid of losing, in general.

Yes, it would be considered petty, uncouth and disrespectful. Let me tweak that a bit. It wouldn't just be considered - it would be petty, uncouth and disrespectful.

Either game would be a much bigger deal for the fans than the WSU coaches and players. To a Gregg Marshall coached team they'd be nothing more than just another bunch of sorry SOBs that had the audacity to step on the court with them. Neither of the aforementioned teams would have any clue about the intensity we would bring.

This is why I kind of see it as Marshall just trying to give the people what they want. He probably doesn't actually give a hoot if KState plays us or not. He knows it would draw interest so he extended out his hand.
