In my opinion the issue is about the athletes. Take any revenue sport for a BCS and/or BCS wanna be program and you will find most participants are athletes rather than student athletes. It is already semi-pro ball in everything but name only. Again, my opinion and I acknowledge that I am generalizing the issue.
