In a game that was rife with story lines and intrigue, in what was arguably the most eagerly anticipated game of the college basketball season, the Shockers and the Wildcats delivered.

This was the game of the year.

great game, great season Shockers! I am still bummed you all lost, a game like this should have been to go to the Final 4, NOT to the sweet 16! the NCAA totally screwed up the Midwest regional, too many teams worthy of being in the final 4 in the same regional. Keep your heads held high, you all represented the MVC in GREAT fashion all season long and in the postseason, we'll see you all Sioux Falls in November!

Thanks for the kind words. Coach Calipari said this was an Elite 8 game. The winner should be going to the Final 4 as you have said. Not sure I agree with that I think this was a semi-final game with the winner going to the Championship game.

As they say what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and I guarantee this loss has not killed any passion whatsoever that we have for our Shockers.

I was hoping for rematch against UL. I figured SHOX would win that game. But damn, UK had to play their best game of the year (at least that's what I hear from Seth Davis) to win today.
If UK doesn't play well next week I will be pissed.

The match up against Louisville favors UK way more than with WSU.

Media members were buzzing in the hallways of the Scottrade Center on Sunday about the high caliber of play from both teams with many asking aloud if it was the greatest Round of 32 game ever played.

With a tremendously loyal fan base and a blossoming program, Wichita State might be the next team to make a similar leap to the permanent big leagues of power conference play.

This game really hurt.

I almost never re-watch losses that hurt. I have a feeling I'll watch this one a few times. That was one of the best college basketball games I've ever seen.

Absolutely ridiculous that was a Round of 32 game.

I like Kentucky in the re-match with Louisville. Kentucky seems to have really started to figure it out since the SEC tournament started, and they still beat Louisville early in the season, with a very average performance for them.

The Shockers, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest region, lost to eighth-seeded Kentucky in a game that will be hard to top the rest of the tournament, in terms of quality of play, level of intensity on the court and in the stands and for sheer entertainment. So, in terms of pretty much everything. This was one of the best NCAA Tournament games of the decade.

I can be a bit of a vindictive bastard, so here's what I'm going to do every year to come: When Kentucky loses it's first game every year, I'm going to toast, a la the '72 Dolphins, the fact that they still don't have a 35-0 season.
