I thought this would be the reason he would win this year, because Fred has two more years to win it after this.

Regardless, I am happy one of the WSU players took home the statue.

Doing the math, there were seven: FVV (22), Early (8), Odum (2), Baker, Balentine, Jackson, Cotton.

Would love to see the votes. Odum with 2? Jackson/Ballentine? C'mon.

Looks like all the non-WSU first place votes were from WSU voters, who couldn't vote for a WSU player.

Looks like Cotton wasn't on the ballot and received 1 first place write in vote.

Assuming WSU's group of four all voted, then four non-WSU players had to get 1st-place votes. Odum, Odum, Balentine, Jackson. There's your four. The two ballots Scranton is referring to must have had Baker and Cotton at #1.

Just read from the release that this was the first time that the top 3 vote getters were from the same team.

4 Shocker players receiving 1st place for POY. I would doubt that has ever happened before.

                    I figure the Shockers had a maximum of 216 POY points available to them. (3 for 1st, 2 for 2nd, 1 for 3rd = 6 points x 36 voters = 216)

They collected 192 of the maximum 216 available or 88.9%. That seems pretty respectful to me. In fact, I have to believe the is unprecedented domination of the POY voting in this format.

I bet both of them voted for Doug McDermott.

Fred VanVleet Deserving Winner of MVC Player of the Year Honor

I posted this in the "Media Love" thread already, but felt it deserves to be mentioned here as well.

                            36 of the 36 Non WSU voters voted a WSU player 1st - 100%
                            33 of the 36 Non WSU voters voted a WSU player 2nd - 91.7%
                            18 of the 36 Non WSU voters voted a WSU player 3rd - 50%

WSU got 80.5% of their possible votes.

Here's the pdf of the press release. It looks like theoretically FVV could become the 1st ever 3-time winner of the POY, HCGM could move into a 2nd place tie with Iba and Hayes for COY awards (3) assuming he wins Thurs, and would be the first coach to win that award 3 straight years

                                3 things that are certain:

Death, taxes, and 3G's going to be COY 3 consecutive times.
