    No. 1 Seed “Success”

Counting 2013, the top-seeded team has
won the MVC tournament 14 times (37.8%) in 37 tries.

In 23 previous tournaments in St. Louis, the
No. 1 tournament seed has won 7 times (30.4%).

In our second series of three total series of games this Season, I predict the Shocks go 3-0. Then we would be 34-0 approaching the Dance as a #1 Seed.
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I wish there were more benefits of earning the #1 seed. I think whoever is the #1 seed should be able to pick the teams it wants in its bracket.

So they would get to pick which 2 of the 4 Friday teams would play each other on their side of the bracket and which 2 of the #3 thru #6 seeds would play on their side of the bracket.

If I have that ability I would like Drake vs Loyola on my side of the bracket for Friday's game but I would probably stick with MSU vs ILS.

I guess it really doesn't make that much difference.

I guess they will bus from Koch Arena to the Mid-Continent Airport.

A couple of signs I want to see:

                31 down 9 to go.

                and

                PERFECTION

Is that what happened last year? Only experience tells one to stay away from Union Station food courts. They no longer get the kind of business to sell their food before it spoils.

Not to hijack this thread, but I stayed at Union Station last year. The hotel is nice, but that mall is the quintessential "other mall" from Chris Rock. I don't think there is a single national retailer there. I don't know if it is part of St. Louis' general decline or mismanagement, but it's a real shame.

The only teams that concern me are Evansville and UNI.

                        1. I think we are just as likely to win regardless of what teams are on either side of this bracket.

                        2. I would have like to have seen a bracket that would have made it possible for both UNI to crack the top 100 AND SIU crack the top 200.

I would have like to see a way for WSU, INST, UNI & SIU to be the field in the semis. The RPI stuff doesn't really matter but its addicting.

There may not be a program more "due" to win their conference tournament than Wichita State.

1987....that's dry 26 times in a row folks. And while yes, we weren't good for many of those years, from 2000-current, we've been mostly competitive. Still...in 26 tries...wait for it...

2 FLIPPING FINALS! TWO!!!! Are you serious? Wanna take a guess at how many semi-finals? I mean hell, you just have to win 1 game most years to get to the semis! How many???

                            2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, so 8 at least?

It's not even just the fact that we've been unsuccessful there, but there's been so many heartbreaking losses. I remember in 2003 we were beating Creighton the whole game until they came back and won it late. Had Indiana State beat a few minutes into the game in 2011 before the team went on cruise control and let it get away. Wichita State wins two hard fought games against Missouri State and Illinois State in 2010 to make it to the finals in St. Louis for the first time ever.. In the finals game, Demetric hits a three right before halftime to give WSU the lead and they continue the run in the second half before going on a huge scoring drought and the game gets away from them. Adding insult to injury was a Lucas O'Rear three pointer near the end of the game.

Note that I don't mention the Creighton game in 2009, because that was actually a strange set of circumstances where Wichita State received the victory, but Creighton was allowed to move on to the next round.

CLE must have a sensitive stomach. There was that interview a few weeks ago about the bad a Southwest Eggroll he got at Chili's. He needs some good, healthy, homemade treats, like his mama would make for him if she lived here. Wonder if I could get some cookies in ....
