  • New favorite team this week.

I have become a DIEHARD University of Virginia fan for the week.

They got the breeziest of the ACC schedules, didn't they? Only have to play Syracuse, NC, and Duke once each.

That's what happens when you have an unbalanced schedule, with the league mandating that certain teams play twice every year to ensure marquee games. Not a real good way to determine a conference champion.

          My favorite team is WSU.

          Beat the Braves.

            Arent they the gargoyles now?

Does that make sense to anyone? I get it that they are avoiding the Native-American-mascot
issue, but if that's the goal, why are they still the Braves? And what do Braves have to do with
Gargoyles? Inquiring minds want to know.

I think they should've become the Totems. The word still has connections to Native American culture yet Bradley would use the term as an Inception reference.

*Bradley wins National Championship. Geno Ford spins his top to check whether he's in a dream or not. Cut to black.*

I believe they have several gargoyles around their campus.

I guess it was as easy a transition as possible, when you already have a head start built into some of your architecture.

I like the Gargoyle. I appreciate any college that tries something original for their mascot. It's the schools that use the same mascot as 5-10 other schools that bother me. Good for Bradley.

I do wish they'd change their names to the Gargoyles. Braves is overused, beyond the pointless argument over Native Americans. (I'm still waiting for an explanation of why Native American imagery is inherently racist even when done in a respectful manner, yet no one has an issue with Scandinavian imagery used with the Vikings, or Greek imagery used with the Spartans, etc. Racism is a belief that one race is inferior to another or multiple others ... stereotypes are not inherently racist. And either target all stereotypes or none. The problem isn't with the use of stereotypes, it's with the use of offensive stereotypes, and you immediately lose all credibility when you confuse the two.)

Aman. I couldn't agree more with this.

The argument is tired and in line with the hypersensitivity that everyone has in this country now. No matter what you say or do it "offends" somebody.

Wait a minute! So you are going to tell me the Mighty Spartans were named after some kind of Greek imagery and not a prophylactic? Oh, sorry I was thinking of So Cal. Well if it fits, wear it
