2 million for a full credit

    30% share is 600k

    That's before NCAA credits.

That's roughly twice what our share in the A-10 would be.

None of my comments were intended to be negative toward WSU. You guys are having a truly remarkable season. You just deserve a better conference.

        Also, I'm at lunch...
        Fair enough.

Come on, like the Valley pays much of anything. AAC would be the absolute best fit and would be wonderful, who cares what they pay?

Only really 3 options out there and all 3 are sort of long shots but the order I would prefer from least to greatest would be:

          3. A-10, 2. MWC, 1. AAC

If I knew for a fact that the Catholic League wouldn't be taking probably the top 2 privates out of the A-10 soon I would be higher on it.

I know everyone assumes it's a done deal, but SLU better hope the Big East extends that invitation this offseason. They're set to drop 100+ RPI spots next year- only about 16 ppg returns from this year's roster.

I am sure their president is lobbying hard.

Trust me, I'm well aware that the MVC pays ESPN to televise our games.

The question was relevant and the answer was helpful.

I would be absolutely shocked (no pun intended) if there was expansion this summer.

The AAC took the short contract that's low on $$$ but high on exposure...

The AAC warchest from realignment is now over 100 million dollars and will be distributed over the next 5 years to members to offset costs.

Speaking of tv contracts anyone know if WSU makes additional revenue by having the BU and MSU games picked up. One of those was the league "wildcard" so was it under the MVC-ESPN contract? Basically I don't know how this stuff works and would appreciate someone filling me in.

When I started this thread, this biggest take-away for me was not that we should necessarily join the A-10 over the MWC or the AAC. It was that people around the nation are starting to take notice and make arguments that their conference should go get WSU. That has to be a positive thing, regardless of which conference we decide is better.

I don't have faith that the A10 will be able to keep it's current lineup intact. A jump to that conference is going from one bad situation to another if they have defections. The MWC looks pretty competitive but 2 timezones difference might put the Shocks at a competitive disadvantage. I would love to see WSU hook up with the AAC and renew games with Tulsa, Memphis and Cincy. I understand that the MWC and AAC have the football focus that could diminish WSU's ability to have an equal voice. I firmly believe that unless WSU moves to a conference with a dedication to athletic excellence, it will become impossible to keep HCGM beyond his kid's HS years.
One quick note before we present the rankings: With Wichita State’s move to the American Athletic Conference, the Shockers have moved out of the mid-major club. We wish the Shockers well against Cincinnati, UConn, SMU, and more.

Why was it relevant? No money is made in the Valley to speak of.

Why was it helpful? Do you handle the Athletic Departments budget?

You are on an internet message board, posting in a topic speculating about conference realignment with the AAC, attacking a poster for asking about that conference's tv contract because he does not set the athletic department budget.

Maybe take a step back and think about what a strange fight you are picking.

I agree that joining the AAC would be the best option.

Two questions: 1.) why is Navy only joining with football? 2) if we were able to bring a "buddy", why would it be Bradley? I know they have a rich bball history, but it's getting to be ancient history with those guys. It seems like N. Iowa is generally much more competitive year in year out...

                                1. Money. In 2011, Bradley spent $800K more on men's basketball than UNI and UNI's budget has been cut by the state since then. Nearly half of the UNI budget is subsidized by the state of Iowa and money is always going to be a major question for that school. While not a direct athletic department comparison, it is telling that Bradley has an endowment nearly 4 times that of UNI, since it demonstrates the difference in donor base between the two schools.

                                2. Fan support. Last year, Bradley averaged 6,557 fans (#79 in the nation) compared to 4,249 for UNI, in spite of the fact that UNI had 3 more wins than Bradley on the year.

I'm not saying we would bring a "buddy," but if we chose Bradley this would be why.
