  • Revealing Scouting Report on the Shockers from Opposing Coaches

Not sure if this has been posted yet, but this is one of the best and most revealing articles I've seen. The quotes from unnamed opposing coaches are very interesting. Lots of discussion on how to try to beat our Shockers. If you click on the link, you can also see previous scouting reports of other top teams (AZ, Cuse, etc.):

Over the next eight weeks, I will go through each of the national championship contenders and attempt to address the key preparation points when facing each team. I will talk to four or five coaches who played those teams this season, and get in-depth insight into each team. How do you score on Arizona? How can you stop Syracuse in transition? What's Michigan State's biggest weakness? We'll find answers to each of those questions, and much more.

    Previous scouting reports:

    Arizona
    Syracuse
    Kansas
    Michigan State
    Florida

Up next is Wichita State, one of two remaining unbeatens and one of the biggest topics of debate in the sport.

    Style of play

“They're very physical. They hang their hat on defending and rebounding and toughness. And they're good in all those categories. They rank in the top 20 in the country in rebounding, and defensively they're top 10 in the country. And they only give up one shot. They hold you to a low field goal percentage, they keep you in front, they're physical, and they keep you off the free-throw line. They're opportunistic on the break. They grind you. They run a lot of sets in the half-court. They score the ball at a high level. [Gregg] Marshall has always hung his hat on defense and rebounding.”

Awesome. I'm surprised how little Cotton was mentioned throughout, though.

Lol yes it has been posted before. Most likely in the Media Love thread. But it is probably buried so deep under all of the hate discussions in that thread that would never find it.

Next time though, just post the link and paste a paragraph or two, preferably in quotes. You don't want to get the board in trouble with the copyright police. :-)

Cotton isn't the starting PG, best perimeter scorer, or best interior scorer. He's not going to get a ton of game planning for his defense...but he should.

What are you talking about? Cotton doesn't defend. He didn't even make the Valley all-defense team last year.

Oh, I'm ecstatic that Cotton isn't a bigger part of our scouting report. Just surprised by it >=)
