It will be a feel good day. Drake will hang for 11 minutes, then the Shox pull away big. We beat them by 17 the first go around, we'll win by 27 this time around. It would be worse, but GM pulls the starts out one by one as they are showered with applause and cheers as we secure the regular season championship outright.

Prior to the post season tournaments, we need to shore up on some minor glitches concerning our defensive rebounding, inbounding the basketball, and reducing the number of successful dribble penetrations that were obvious in our last outing. Would imagine this was covered extensively the last few days.

When I saw this photo in the Des Moines paper after our game there, I had two thoughts:
1. Parents of these students are saying, "What the heck? I am paying $40k a year for you to go to Drake, and you don't know how to spell Bulldogs?"

2. They have no "D."

Well, I also had a third thought -- not everyone has the fitness level to be taking off their shirt in public.

I hope this is true. What a great tribute to the city emblazoned across their uniforms (sometimes) and its' history and contribution to aviation, both military and civilian.

Oh, what a great tribute. Boeing Plant II was massive, expanding to 3 million sq. ft. of production space in a few years of the great war. Amazingly, no public announcement was made of the existence of the B-29 until April 1943 even though work started in November 1941. Plant II alone produced over 1,000 (the highest estimate is 1,400) B-29s, including the Enola Gay which carried the atomic bomb to Hiroshima. During the wars last days bumper stickers were seen on cars in town showing B-29s dropping bombs with the legend "From Wichita to Japan. Excuse please."
