  • Opponents off nights vs WSU

Through the first 13 conference games, WSU has given up higher shooting percentages than the opponents' season average in any one of the three categories (FG%, 3-pt% and FT%) in any game only 13 of the 39 (4 in FG%, 6 in 3-pt% and 3 FT%).

    Overall, it looks like this:

    Season Versus
    Average Shockers
    FG% 44.9% 38.7%
    3-pt% 36.2% 30.6%
    FT% 70.5% 62.6%
At the average number of attempts per game, 2-pt tries 33.7; 3-pt tries 19.1 and FT tries, 18.7 against us, these lower shooting percentages amount to 4.2 points on 2-pt; 3.3 points on 3-pt; and 1.5 pts on FT = 9.0 pts per game below the norm for the opponent.

    Stout, I'd say.

Remember when Nancy Pelosi said about Obamacare:
"We have to pass it, to find out what's in it".

A physician called into a radio show and said:
"That's the definition of a stool sample."

Psshh. I knew we were lucky, but I didn't know we were THAT lucky.

Yeah, our very good "free throw defense" is kind of a mystery. Perhaps we just have fresher legs than the opponent, owing to good conditioning and use of our bench. I don't know. But those stats show we must be doing something right.

I think that's part of it. I also think knowing who not to foul is another part of it.

Guarding and making them guard really gets into their legs. The timing of the application of the press is key too.

I think you hit the nail on the head there.
