  • Did I Hear What I Thought I Heard?

On the WSU-UNI telecast, I thought I heard the color guy say, "When Tuttle is done, he will be in the top 10 of all time Missouri Valley players."

Did my ears fail me? Did I hear correctly?

The Shockers have four starters, who are better than Tuttle. Throw in X, Big Dog and Rave, it makes eight of then 10 needed.

Somebody has been smokin' something. I hope I have not relapsed.

    You heard correctly Ricky.

And that may have been the most asinine statement ever made on sports television.

I like Valley homers pumping up the players and the conference. But some of it, is getting borderline ridiculous and absurd. I can only imagine how it looks to non-Valley fans who are tuning in.
    Deuces Valley.
    ... No really, deuces.

I heard it too. When he started, I thought he was headed for "top ten of all UNI players". Top ten all time in the Valley? Let alone the ones you mention from WSU, Ricky, there are some other minor names to bring up, such as:

      Oscar Robertson
      Larry Bird
      Hersey Hawkins

It was NOT Mark Adams who did the color. It was the PBP guy whose name escapes me. It doesn't make the comment any less asinine, but just wanted people to know that.

Yes, this was discussed in the game thread. It wasn't Mark Adams that said it, but the other commentator. Apparently Awesome Sauce Malone tweeted Mark Adams about it and Mark tweeted right back saying "no i did not". Now, not sure what Mark Adams is doing checking twitter and responding during those media timeouts, but maybe he should be double checking his stats so they don't look silly by saying HCGM's assistants weren't on top of how many fouls Coleby had when they were.

Maybe they were thinking that Tuttle would have 8-9 years like Grant Gibbs to complete his eligibility.

I could probably name 5 players from UNI in the last 15 years that were better than King Tuttle:

                            Ben Jacobsen
                            Jason Daisy
                            Eric Coleman
                            Grant Stout
                            Kwadzo
                            Adam Koch
                            David Gruber

                            Am I missing something?
