  • Joe Mitchell

I have seen him play three times this year, it sure would be nice to have his offense this year. It is to bad we could not have worked something out.

Some here on the board know more than I do, evidently there was a misunderstanding about a possible scholarship.

As he was transferring before playing at Ohio, HCGM couldn't talk to joe directly, but apparently did with his family. iirc, Marshall told his family Joe could earn a scholie if he walked on, and the way Joe understood it, he would be 4 for 5. He was walking on last year, and the writing on the wall was that he wasn't going to earn the scholie over other players. There may or may not have been questions of work ethic and dedication, I can't remember. But he left the team after a few weeks and tweeted that he lost his love for the game. That is what I remember.

I have seen him play twice, 32 & 36 points. Had probably 5 assists and 5 rebound in both games. Can get his shot any time he wants. I'm glade he has found a good fit at FU. Good for Joe, good for Faber and it has turned out good for WSU.

Joe sure missed out on a lot, but that's his choice.

I had no idea he was dominating the way he is, leading the nation in scoring in NAIA Div-II, and by about 5(!) ppg. Joe is currently at 32.7 -- next is a fellow KCAC player from Bethany at 27.4 -- and shooting great: 60% from the field (39% from three), and 82% from the line; he's also leading his team with 4.6 assists per game.

It's too bad things didn't work out at WSU for whatever reason the confusion occurred, and it's especially unfortunate because a scholarship even opened up unexpectedly this year. Sorry the Shocks lost him, although I'm still not sure whose minutes he'd be getting -- maybe giving Cotton, Baker, and even FVV a little more rest than they're getting, which would not be a bad thing.

Still, it's nice to see him finishing up so impressively, and I hope he gets a chance to play for money after this -- presumably overseas if he can handle the distance, which seemed to be a problem when he left Ohio U. Best of luck to him.

Thanks, moshock. Best of luck to Joe -- there weren't as many minutes available at WSU as at Friends, obviously, but I think he could have helped the Shocks.

He would have been nice to have when Fred picked up his 4th foul against Kentucky.

So would've DJ Bowles, whom we seem apt to forget. People in the media liked to point out a lack of depth at PG on last years team, but then forget to finish their research which shows we played a man down all year.

Good point, dizzle -- although Baker wasn't exactly a bad emergency backup.
