      Get it? Probably not.

What is my "shtick" exactly? Defending WSU from Calculus-based nonsense that's used to disparage or knock them down whenever possible?

      Ok.
No, you go off the rails when anyone has a different opinion. Followed shortly by personal attacks. That's your shtick.

Ken's stats have a lot of value at this point of the season because they are better predictors of end of season ratings - RPI included. But since you'll disparage the RPI whenever that's inconvenient as well, I doubt you'll see the difference.

I'm going to grab some popcorn now. And maybe a beer for the ensuing drinking game :)

Was I disparaging WSU in this thread? Nope, trying to have an actual conversation and answer ABC's question with the data he requested.

You simply saw my name pop up and couldn't resist the urge to try and attack me. Your "shtick"? Turning everything into a Jim Rome style smack off.

We are in on some serious possibilities for a H/H next year. I don't see doing a buy game as we are on the brink of scheduling one or more top/near-top programs. I think buy games might easily muck up other H/H negotiations.

I didn't know where to post this, so here looked okay. John Gasaway tracks conference games only and how each team is doing against their league opponents on a per-possession basis.

Welcome to the season’s first installment of Tuesday Truths, where I look at how well 127 teams in the nation’s top 11 conferences are doing against their league opponents on a per-poss…

My biggest problem with the kenpom site is that I'm too big of a cheapskate to pony up 20 buck a year to get access.

The overall rankings, offensive ranks, defensive ranks, and SOS ranks are all free. Only the more in depth analysis including game by game stuff requires a subscription.

That is simply not true. They had a lot of neutral site games.

If you take a shot every time some idiots detour into a worthless argument on Shockernet you will be dead by the next home game. Don't do it man.

yes, they did, at one time (not so much anymore.. but did they get returns from illinois and butler this year? doubt it). they earned respect for it, too.. the gonzaga blueprint. the average fan (which is the bcs type fan) doesn't study the ins and outs of scheduling- they just say "hey, look, gonzaga is playing at michigan state on espn."

i wouldn't mind a one off at duke or kentucky (no kansas)- once or twice, and that's it. top bluebloods only. i don't think marshall would go for that, though.

Look at KU, before the Iowa State win, they were 0-4 with their Top 25 opponents and the national pundits continued to praise them for having the most difficult schedule. Never mind that they lost them all. I think we can step it up a little and not get hurt as much as we would have in the past.
The problem is not our non-conference schedule - WSU could not take enough one and done games to make that big of difference. As of today WSU SOS is 70, by the end of the season it will drop to ~110. It has been dropping with every game that WSU plays in conference. When the MVC has 4 teams with RPI >200 you are just F-ed, only thing you can do is WIN and WIN.

So, I looked at Gonzaga's home schedule all the way back to 99-00, the season after they first got to the national scene by reaching the Elite 8.

From that time forward, I could find ONE game that might be a "buy game" - a game at UCLA in the 99-00 season. (but since I didn't have access to their schedule in earlier years, I don't know if UCLA made it up north)

They had a lot of games in neutral sites such as playing both OU and OkSU in Oklahoma City, Stanford and Cal in Oakland etc. OSU returned the game in Seattle. They also played at each other's home arenas.

Some of GU's "neutral" games were in the Spokane arena rather than their campus arena - not really neutral, such as OU's return game.

They played Mizzou in Seattle and then played Mizzou the next year in Columbia.

They played at Arizona, then played Arizona in Phoenix and Seattle.

They played at Illinois 2x, played Illinois 2x in Indianapolis (weird), and had a home game vs Illinois.

They played Florida in Sunrise, Fla in 00-01.
