Expert recap and game analysis of the San Diego State Aztecs vs. University of Saint Katherine Saint Katherine NCAAM game from December 27, 2013 on ESPN.

Somehow I think SDSU might regret the margin of this victory over a holy team.

Saw this going on last night. Actually, a SDSU starter who has the most mpg and almost 11 rebounds per game didn't play. They had 9 players between 14-25 minutes (not all starters at the upper end) and 13 saw action, all playing at least 4 minutes.

I posted this yesterday on twitter before the game started....

Let us take a moment to qeustion why in the hell San Diego State is playing St. Katherine today. SDSU could win by 70 if they wanted to
      Sadly, I underestimated it.

      I'm finished.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

St. Katherine College, a tiny orthodox Christian school, is playing its inaugural season of hoops. In the program's only other games against Division I teams, the Firebirds lost 107-36 at Weber State and 88-39 to Utah Valley.

          So why schedule this game?

"Well, I'm a competitor and I want my guys to be competitive," Mitchell said. "As a little kid, you want to go to Disneyland. As a grown-up basketball player living in San Diego, you want to play the Aztecs."
Not to mention that these D-1 buy-ins are manna sent from heaven for a program like St. Katherine's. Actually that particular question needed to be directed at Steve Fisher, not the St. Katherine's coach. Could be Coach Fisher had a gap around the holidays and he just wanted to help the little guy out. Doesn't impact the RPI so I have no problem with it. Although I see no particular benefit for SDSU. SDSU probably has the same issues scheduling the so-called "Big Boys" as do the Shockers.

Utah let St. Katherine score a bit in the second half but didn't stop on the offensive end, they actually turned it up, scoring 69 points in the second half. Final Score: 124-51

Surprisingly they don't. They have a home and home with KU that start in Lawrence this year. They already had a home game vs Arizona and will have a home gave vs. Washington soon.
