I would be willing to bet that most people will be on Barry's side. He didn't say anything that bad, and even his naming of one player wasn't THAT bad. It would have embarassed the kid, but how much more than their team record is already embarassing those kids?

Barry made it sound like he's got players who aren't mad that they are losing, and that is making him mad. They are hanging their heads and not playing with a drive to win. I bet the SIU fan base is more than happy that he is trying to do what he can to get their team to play for them again. Its not about Barry. Its about the sport and the fans. If these players are just going to get rebellious because their coach is demanding more effort, their fans will hate them. That will be an embarassing legacy to leave as a player.

I really really really want the team to come out on the same page with all the angry stuff forgiven, and play hot. If they win some games in the Valley it can't possibly make anything worse at this point from a league RPI standpoint. I really want that particular team to start winning.

If they run Barry out over stuff like this or don't give him the 5-7 years this is really going to take, I will be really annoyed.

I think for Christmas, I just want to ask Santa to make SIU and Bradley strong again. I'm so tired of them both being bad. Its completely out of character, and they are the reason the Valley sucks. I say that as lovingly as possible because I am really pulling for them. I can't really complain about UE, UNI, D+eduation or LOLoyola sucking, and I can only kind of complain about SMS, ISUr and ISUb sucking, but I feel like I have a pretty legitimate annoyance with BU and SIU. Half of me even wants to blame them for causing the Valley to lose CU. If everyone hadn't all fallen apart at the exact same time, we might not have been so unattractive when compared to the big priest. I don't want the Shockers to have to leave the MVC, too. I want the MVC to be a strong conference.

Bring back the good ol' days please. Rant over.

Kyle Weems gave his opinion about Hinson's rant on Twitter. He said he didn't think it was right, which I believe equates to a rating of about two throat slashes.

They're about to interview Hinson on SportsCenter at 4:30. They talked about it earlier with Herm Edwards and a women's bball analyst and they said they understood where he was coming from and doing that is sometimes necessary. The only thing they had a problem with was using a player's name.

Trouble is we are about done with the non-conference and once you get into the conference season it becomes somewhat of a zero sum game for the conference as a whole. In other words, any gains made by one team will come at the expense of a fellow conference member.

Am I crazy or was HCGM way more direct and called players out early on who didn't want to play HCGM style ball?
Specifically I remember him calling out Gal. Maybe IDKWTF.

My point is that I assume a coach that has made it to the D1 level will try everything before calling a player out by name in public. If a coach is doing that it is because that is a last ditch effort on the part of that coach to light a fire under said player's ass.

Pat Knight was pretty direct when he called out his seniors a couple year's back while at Texas Tech. IIRC that actually did light a fire under those guys for a while anyway.

Yes, HCGM is much more apt to call a player out, and it might get him in trouble some day, but as one columnist said, "Marshall has never found a bush worth beating around."
