I thought I did well buying 80/1 ticket in May. Wish I could get some more now.

Thats why they build all those big buildings in the desert, because people dont get Vegas. Probably a fair assessment but you have to remember that those future bets are based on Joe public assessment and is a paramutual system. The odds would go down if more people were putting a hundo down on the Shockers nose

Yeah I understand chances of cashing in on championship ticket are tough but considering uk is 5/1 and creytin and vcu are the same as us just doesn't make much sense.

Its pretty simple really Wu. Odds are based on the amount of money put into the pool divided the number of tickets bought on each team. So if the next 10,000 people who walked into Las Veg Hilton bought tix for WSU to win it all at 100 ea, the odds on WSU would drop considerably

Sorry I didn't mean for the thread title to be taken from a literal sense. I understand money lines and sports books want even money. I guess I'm just surprised where bettors are placing their money and how the lines have moved. When I was in Vegas in May LVH had WSU 60/1 while Caesars had them at 80/1 to win it all this season. Now the line is 100/1. That movement by the bettors is irrational and at 100/1 odds WSU is as good a value as there is on the futures list.

They say the stock market is full of irrationality, and I suspect so is betting in Vegas especially when it comes to college basketball.

I wouldn't trust your link as the "go-to" source. Those odds are just from one online sportsbook and doesn't necessarily represent Vegas as a whole. If I had to take a guess, the odds in Vegas now are probably very similar or exactly the same as they were when you went in May. Maybe a ShockerNetter is taking an upcoming trip to Vegas and can report their findings.

A friend of mine put 500.00 down on S.Carolina, Tennesses and AUBURN back in september all at 200-1 to win BCS. He is going to put 15k to win 3k on FSU on the ML at -500 as a hedge, I told him to let it ride.

Actually it sounds like a smart move to me. If I understand what you are saying right, if Auburn wins he collects a net gain $85,000 ($100,000 for winning less the $15,000 he bet on FSU). If FSU wins on the other hand he still comes out with a net gain of $3,000.

My guess is UK may not win. How do I bet against it?
