Why the hell are there even WSU fans on a KU board? I understand reading different teams' boards, but what's the point of even trying to argue with them? We're ranked and undefeated, having a tremendous year so far. There's not much of a need to defend our team when the team is proving themselves in every game. Why not just enjoy the ride?

Let's face it. There are a lot of KU posters that have never set foot on the KU campus, much less attend(ed) graduated from there.
My belief is that the KC metro area is the least significant major league city in the country. Additionally, JoCo is a hodgepodge mix of suburbs that have absolutely no cultural identity or pride except to belong to a metro area based in Missouri who should be the absolute enemy of anyone associated with KU.
Therefore, JoCo posters, who have never attended KU have a huge inferiority complex and put down anything associated with the state of Kansas (including Wichita , WSU, and the rest if the state) except Lawrence.

Guess when your connection to "your school" is a drawer full of t-shirts, and stories from "that one time" you actually attended a game in person, it is pretty easy to blow a gasket when that undeserved portion of your persona goes tits-up.

There is absolutely no denying the insecurity that exists on the part of KU boosters and the schools admin towards WSU, but you give "JoCo posters" too much credit. JoCo KU fans were raised inside a bubble and have virtually no knowkedge of WSU's existence.

As far as the cultural signifigance of JoCo,it is no more or no less significant than Wichita. Just bigger and slightly more homogenous. And as a collection of bedroom communities, unable to claim that agriculture is better than no culture at all (like KSU fans)...

What is truly pathetic are the KU fans/alums that are from Wichita and try to pretend that WSU does not exist..

I agree wholeheartedly with the part about ku alum/fans from Wichita that pretend WSU does not exist or throw disparaging remarks about Wichita/WSU around. The part with ku alum that ID with kc is the fact that most of them during their tenure at ku travel to kc for their entertainment. I have no clue what larryville is like now as far as a metro spots to go go but back in the day there were a couple of places to go if you wanted to stay local but most of the beakers I knew went to kc for fun.

I just saw something really cute at work. One of my coworkers has put up a picture on his computer desktop of Mario Chalmers and Co. celebrating their 2008 national championship. It's cool and all, but the funny part is how it seems to have shown back up conveniently around the same time that the nation is debating who "the best team in Kansas" is this year.

That reminds me of another thing. The other day my wife brought up our Final 4 last year and a family member who is one of those people who graduated from WSU but only cares about KU puffed out his chest and reminded us that they were preoccupied with their NC so they didn't notice our Final 4.

I get that NC's are the end all for an argument, but I can't help but think of how funny it would be if LOLoyola was still bragging about their past success. At what point does bragging about a different season become old? I guess pointing to the past is all you can do when you aren't the cat's meow currently.
