Conner can't guard a D-I player…and KU is bad at defense. Andrew White is a 6-6 sophomore guard that was a top 50 out of high school. Wayne Selden is a 6-5 McDonald's AA freshman guard. Tharpe is one of two upperclassmen on scholarship at KU and will sometimes share the backcourt with top 100 freshman PG Frank Mason. Conner is shooting a dreadful 23% from 3 while the other three wings are shooting between 33 and 39%. Brannen Greene is a 6-7 top 50 freshman guard that is also getting limited minutes. While none of the KU wings can hold a candle to 2* Tekele cotton or unrated Ron Baker, some analysts thought they were pretty good in high school. Maybe they could have evaluated them better if they had seen them go up against Scott City?

      The floor was slippery?
That goes right up there with dog (homework) and cat (farted).

I once had a (college) drummer that claimed the metronome (Dr. Beat) was speeding up and slowing down and it was throwing him off. The look the jazz instructor had on his face was priceless.

This is a good point. For once, KU finally has a hard OOC schedule. It will be a really good thing for them in the long run IMO, but it's no coincidence that they're actually losing games now in November and December. But their fans have absolutely no clue how to handle it, because they're just used to playing cupcakes and not losing this early in the year. It's pretty hilarious actually.

            You are factually incorrect.

In the past 3 years, KU has played 14 games against top 50 RPI teams in their non-conference part of the season. They regularly have one of the toughest non-conf SOS in the country.

Just goes to show that Marshall is a better recruiter than Self. Signing 5 star players is no recipe for success, nor does it make you a better recruiter. Finding good players that will buy into the system and play hard/smart regardless of their rankings takes a little more time and effort.

EXACTLY! The system. Team ball vs. street ball. Marshall is tops in my book.

Why rankings are pointless. Lots of it is driven by the fact that if you are being recruited by KU, you must be top 100.

I am sure that some of that has to do with the overall weakness of the BIG what ever conference. I am not really sure that the conference schedule
gets them as ready for the dance as bill would like.

Living in a big city with close to 5 million I have seen both KU and Wichita St. alumns in the workforce here in the Phoenix area. What became apparent over the years of my observation was that a good many of KU alumns high-tailed back to Kansas from Arizona in short time. Now you have to understand that Phoenix has hundreds of thousands of people that have moved here from all over the country. From Chicago, New York City, Philly, Boston, Detroit, Ohio, Los Angeles, etc. City folks if you will. My observation was that many a KU graduate could not hang in a large city that is made up from a bazillion people from the above type cities. Years ago I thought it was really nothing to consider....but having seen lots of Wichitans from WSU succeed here I had to ask myself why. What's the "difference"??? My only assumption was that a good majority of KU people feel "safer" with other KU people and move back to Kansas where they are comfortable.

Birds of a feather so to speak. That explains this photo taken inside Allen Field House just prior to game time at chickenhawk U. :)

I've ran into some pretty sad examples of bummed out KU fans this week considering the season is not even close to over.. It's just weird at times. For a fan base that absolutely loves to dish it out, they seem to be seriously offended easily these days, to the point of burning bridges in a few cases i've seen thus far. You pretty much want to just laugh at them for old times sake being as how their fans love to dish it out and in some cases they reveal this even more odd side to themselves that reveals they really don't appreciate the jokes. Not all of them are acting like this, but enough for me to step back and say "wow, this is just pathetic. even more proof their fan represents the dark side of sports."

This has been a tough week and the beautiful thing is that you don't even have to mention KU or the Shockers. Just be cool and begin a conversation about college basketball and how exciting it's been so far. You can mention K-State and how they are struggling, how Oklahoma has improved, how good Baylor is doing, do they think that Barnes will make it in Texas for the entire season?, etc. This has got to drive them crazy.

Dripping with irony over there as new WSU posts created by ku posters are created just about every day and they'll turn it around calling us insecure.

It's only a part of the KU fan base, but it seems to be a prevalent part. It is really kind of bizarre.

Bwa-ha-ha!!! I just took a trip over to phog.net and 3 of the first 5 threads were about WSU. They act like we're some sort of insecure fan base, but they are primarily the ones starting and continuing those threads.
