Agree - but the challenge are ding-dong KU fans like those on the thread posted. They seem awfully insecure.

      Done.

Gee, sounds like Ron Baker -- he's just a humble kid, as we know.

I even wear my blonde mop top wig when I make that spiel. Works like a charm.

And I thought you guys were all insecure. The one that was the most laughable was the one that said our basketball program was the only one of relevance. Really which other ku program has had any contiueng relevance in the last decade? We know baseball has faded and football is just a pimple on the ass of the mediocre 12. So I was just wondering what he was talking about.

              THIS POLL MEANS APPROXIMATELY

              DICK!

Where we finish in the tourney is all we should care about. A top 25 ranking for us should be expected. A top 10 ranking should be met with a nice smile.

It don't mean anything in December.

KU fans are such a freakish bunch sociologically. They drastically overblow scenarios, or even make stuff up out of thin air, so that they may justify wrath towards another. Their reactions to the WSU vs KU ranking t-shirts from the 2006-2007 season, and 3G's "Chickenhawk" comments from a couple of years ago are great examples. Both situations that were taken WAY out of scope or context so that they could all have a hate circlejerk towards the Shocks.

I'm no psychologist, but I attribute these social oddities towards the fact that a good number of KU students/alums/fans are individuals who have an innate need to latch onto something "big time" due to inadequacies in their own lives or psyches. They are unable to make anything substantial out of their own persona, so they have a real need to hitch their wagon up to a bigger cause.

A friend of mine who lived most of his young to middle adult life in New Jersey said the only people he has ever met that felt they were more "entitled" than the effete snobs from Princeton were the people he had met from ku.

I heard a similar comment from a Jersey girl I used to date in KC. I believe her comment was something to the effect of, "Do KU grads think they went to Princeton or something? All they talk about is KU basketball." When I met her back in 2000 I told her I was a Shocker fan and that we hadn't been very good for a while, but we were about to turn the corner. She calls every year after we win a couple games in the tourney to tell me how her and her buddies are cheering the Shox on from Florida. Florida, pronounced 'Flarr-e-da', is where Jersey people go in the winter.

I truly believe it is a weird mix of insecurity and narcissism. I worked with someone like that and it was miserable.

Here's the deal. KU wins. They win a lot. People, especially douchebags can't handle being real fans. They aren't mentally capable of grasping the concept of sticking with your team through thick and thin. The cross that KU has to bear, is that being really good for a really long time, means that these 'Fans' don't have the opportunity to go be fans of someone else. They haven't had the need to. So KU keeps accumulating douchebags into their fan base without ever culling the herd and fleecing these fans off to Kentucky, or Georgetown, or whoever. So over 30 years or so, the accumulation of douchebags has amassed to this critical mass of douchbaggery. The other problem is that these people's need to be boastful and braggarts is such that, naturally, they are the loudest and most outspoken of the fan base at large. Thus, the persona of KU is such that when you meet one, odds are, they are, you guessed it, a douchebag.

It's too bad, because KU, as a basketball program is one that all college programs should aspire to. I actually like Bill Self and most of their players. Couldn't stand Roy Williams and some of the clowns he had, though.

Not much left to say after that.
