I like his mobility in running the floor and guarding a power forward or center.

I like his free throw makes.

Quick like a bunny. After last night's game, what is C.J.'s free throw make percentage? Don't know? It is 84.6%.

I could do without his wild hook shots.

C.J.'s field goal percentage is 54.7%. Solid.

C.J. has a rebound rate of 1 per 3.05 minutes of play, which is pretty good. It is not in X territory, but it is pretty good.

Most of all, I like his energy and enthusiasm, either on the floor or bench.

Oh! One more thang. He is a 277 pound space eater.

And one more extra thang. He is improving by the game.

I became a Lufile fan after the ecstatic joy he showed in last year's final four run even as playing time was decreased. I'm very happy with his current success.

Lufile's greatest asset is his attitude. In the offseason he asked Marshall for additional work so he could improve his game. At the CBE he sought out X-Man and some of the other inductees for ideas on how to be better at his position. He is a true team player. I couldn't be happier with what this dude is bringing to the table and I think we've only begun to see the payoff from his efforts. He could be a major factor for us at Dance time.

More typing, but I'm going to use Chadrack.

For those true basketball experts, please correct me, but it seems like true progression and improvement in the post positions is less likely to be "lucky" than a guard who starts getting hot form the outside. (not talking about dribble penetration)

Thus, I think we will continue to see solid play from Chadrack and Carter and Kadeem. That doesn't mean they won't still miss bunnies and tip-ins, but you can't get lucky and have the post moves Carter had yesterday and Chadrack had the last two games.

            Any thoughts on that?

Hard not to like Chadrack. Seems like a great guy and turning into a heck of a player.

I'm far from an authority or expert on the subject, but those people don't tend to post on message boards, so I'll take a shot.

JuCo's tend to take half a season to get going. Carter is starting to look like he "understaands". I think he's going to just keep getting better. I doubt he's got Hall's motor or attitude, but the word is that Carter has the skills to be a major D1 player. I think Carter can become a fairly consistent 12 and 8 type player. He's starting to show signs of that.

Lufile just gets better with every game. As I recall, we first started hearing good things about him coming out of the scrimmage with Baylor. He's not the most polished offensive player, but he's started just going straight to the basket when he gets the ball. That will work.

The downside is that a lot of the improvement Lufile and (particularly) Carter have shown came against ORU. That might translate to success against Valley teams, but that's not what they're going to see in the post season.

There's no one to compare to McDermott and Echenique in Valley play this year. That's going to limit some player development in the front court this year.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

First things first. Darius might have a slightly higher ceiling than Carl. Whether he hits that ceiling or not this year remains to be seen.

Our bigs need to won the rebounding battles first. Attack the basket offensively second. Makes shots or hit free throws.

Lufile ran ORU's big into the ground. I've never seen someone that tired with 14 minutes still left to go in the 2nd half.

Centers who shoot better than 80% from the strip: Miller, Stutz, Lufile.

Granted a small sample but great company. Others come to mind?

I like the way our big guys seem to shoot their FT's very softly. EO was not able to do it and didn't Henry have some problems early in his career shooting FT's?

He got better after he started holding the ball out in front to line up the shot.

John Smith also did it for a bit, but it didn't look as good as when Hank did it.
