  • Had a long and knowledgable discussion tonight with fans from LSU, Ohio St., and Syracuse.

All had lots of respect for McDermott, but the Syracuse fan pointed out the following:

"As great as (MCD) is, and leaving as one of the Top 8 scorers in NCAA history, realize he isnt even CLOSE to the points Maravich put up. Let that sink in. He is still 600 points under in his 4th year to what Pete put up in just 3. Appreciate the special, they dont happen often"

Not only did he have an extra year to do it, he had the 3-point line. One estimate holds that with a 3-point line, Maravich would have averaged 13 more ppg than his already ridiculous 44.2 ppg career average.

      • Pistol Pete was amazing, but you still have to acknowledge that Doug McDermott is a pretty special college player. No he's not a great defender or rebounder. Not really very athletic. Perhaps that makes his accomplishments even more impressive. Would love to see the Shocks get another shot at him and his team.

        • Not that any of you happy drunks in STL are paying attention, but the SDSU/NM game really just turned the Duke/NC game into an undercard. 42-all with 5:33 left.

Any chance Gibbs gave his framed jersey back from last year? Isn't that some sort of NCAA violation?

SDSU to the line, up 1 with 38 seconds left.

New Mexico hits a 35' inconsequential 3-pointer at the horn to make it a three point game, spread was at 4.5. Some VERY upset people right now. Thank God I'm not one of them.

                      • And Maryland blows a 64-61 lead with 5 seconds left by fouling on purpose as Virginia made the first FT with 2.8 seconds left then missed the 2nd and Maryland knocked it out of bounds with 1.7 seconds left then Virginia ran a play that left a guy wide open from about 6 feet for the tie to go to overtime.

I love to see it when the foul on purpose play up 3 doesn't work I can't stand that play. I love it when it backfires.

Ohio State was looking good against Michigan State. Was.
