I was just saying I will be rooting for a team that isn't/wasn't considered a BSC school to win the National title. I have been following college basketball since the early 80's and I have always enjoyed following all the "mid major" teams. Back in the day it was something when a mid major would pull even just a 1st round upset. Back in the day teams didn't have a problem being called a "mid major" then somewhere along the line when Gonzaga got good (and stopped winning NCAA tournament games) they and other teams hated being called mid majors. In my heart teams like Xaiver, Gonzaga, VCU, Creighton, Butler, Wichita State, ect will always be mid majors in my mind and I will always follow/root for them against the Big 6 former BCS schools (except UK and OSU of course).

So that was all I was saying. I actually followed you guys for many years and watched all your NIT games when you won that NIT championship. Followed you guys closely all last year but I also follow VCU, North Dakota State, Harvard, Butler, ect as well. I just love following the teams at the top in the mid major world and I actually stopped playing march madness brackets a few years ago because I couldn't stand having to root for my bracket and some team like Duke when a Lehigh is on the verge of an upset. I always rooted against my bracket so I just stopped doing them as to me I get 100% more enjoyment out of seeing a 9th seeded Wichita State make the Final Four (even against my Ohio State team) then I would have if a Arizona, Duke or some other big name school.

Trust me Wichita State is high up on my list of teams to root for this year. I have been waiting a lifetime to see a team like your's a team like VCU, like a Butler win a National Championship. I thought I had it when Butler nearly beat Duke in 2010. Then that 2011 year was so brutal my favorite team Kentucky, Butler, VCU and UCONN were in the Final 4...I wanted Kentucky to win it all of course but I said if Butler or VCU wins it that will be almost as good and of course UCONN won it.

So I hope that sets the record straight on where I stand and I know there are some here that know I was with you even in your darkest times the last few years I was one of the guys saying last year you would make the big dance when some lost faith.

I don't question his choice of 4 favorite teams, including Kentucky and Ohio St. He does not talk them up here. @HenryMuto: started following our Shockers after our game with Cleveland St and has stuck around ever since. I also believes he watches a ton of college basketball, can present a different viewpoint, always respectful to our Shockers, and a welcomed guest.
      Thanks for the kind words.

You certainly shouldn't need to defend yourself here. I love your participation here.

They've got 4stars coming in. Coach McDermott has a long track record of winning conference championships and post season runs. He also has success "at that level" previously and has shown an ability to not only recruit but develop talent, again, "at that level". The kind of athletes that are generally successful "at that level" have been knocking down the doors to attend private schools in Omaha, NE for YEARS, and Greg has finally opened it for them. The continuation of deep NCAA runs is all but assured north of us. I for one, am jealous.

                • Goober on B12 network (KU 70- TTech39) just said he would feel better about WSU in the tourney if they lost a game first.
I just watched that ncaa.com video and he comes out with that garbage.......someone hand me the butterknife, I'm goin in for the kill......

And then, once they lost, he could crucify them.

Sorry. I still would like for one of these douches to explain how that process goes. A coach taking that advice and deciding its best to lose a game.

Makes no sense. This is one of those sayings that some knucklehead said way back, and now its bandied about in the hopes that whoever says it will be looked at as some freaking oracle to come up with such wisdom. When in actuality, they have no good reason as to why team x isnt as good as others think.

                          • Gotcha. I was confused. I am not watching that game. I saw Goober and immediately thought Gottlieb...but that wouldn't fit as the Big 12 Network is run by ESPN and Gottlieb does ESPN. I understand it now.

back in the day, they weren't called mid-major. wichita state, of all cbb, SHOULD be THE team to break that one in half and dust it off (that term/stigma that started in the early 2000's).
