    • Anyone catch the end of that Oakland vs YSU Horizon 1st round game ? Good lord folks you think you have seen it all and then you haven't.

Long story short YSU is up 80-76 with 8 seconds left Bader hits a 3 pointer for Oakland with 2.3 seconds left then they foul with only 0.4 seconds left so game is over right ? YSU just needs to miss 2nd FT and its over Oakland has no timeouts left.
So the YSU guy misses 1st FT then makes the 2nd FT then what happens next is well impossible. First the refs now decide to go to the monitor to check clock why not check it before FT's ? So this allows Oakland a free timeout to set up the play where Bader sets a pick on the baseline gets run over and is fouled hits both FT's and boom tie game and then Oakland won in OT.

                      Pretty much this.

Anybody that knows how to play an ounce of defense in the tourney will destroy them. This is their last shot in the foreseeable future to get out the first weekend, and just like a BJ, it's not gonna happen. And they were so pumped about themselves too. What a pity.

I'm not going to say they are one and done or first weekend only type team. Match ups and good bounces go a long ways in determining all that. I will agree they could benefit from a much better defense.

Next year though....good gravy, they really depend a lot on McBuckets. He will be sorely missed next season. That would be true for any team with him on it but man they really lean on him. In fact seems like McD and Gibbs were the only two scoring in the time I watched...oh I do remember their quick little guard getting a steal and lay in out of it. Replacing McD's offense alone would be tough next season but add in Wragge, Gibbs, and Manigat. That is a lot to replace all at once.

                        • It's also not just McDermott's scoring that they will miss, but it is the attention that McDermott gets from opposing teams defense. How many open looks has Wraggen gotten due to McDermott being double teamed and sometimes triple teamed? I'd guess a lot.

Are the Creighton players good enough to get their own shot when McDougie isn't taking the attention away from their defender??? Who knows, but they will have to totally re-tool their offensive scheme next year.

                          • No no no.

CU will struggle next year because they were a Valley team playing big boy basketball now. This years record was a fluke. Now that the big boys nowvtheir tricks their mid major style will get exposed.

                            • I hate to say it, but you're ALL wrong.

They've got 4stars coming in. Coach McDermott has a long track record of winning conference championships and post season runs. He also has success "at that level" previously and has shown an ability to not only recruit but develop talent, again, "at that level". The kind of athletes that are generally successful "at that level" have been knocking down the doors to attend private schools in Omaha, NE for YEARS, and Greg has finally opened it for them. The continuation of deep NCAA runs is all but assured north of us. I for one, am jealous.
