Any chance you have their numbers from before winning @Tennessee? The best I could find was at the beginning of last week 178 (before Ark. and @Tenn). That is bottom half of D1. I think in a pre-Tennessee win situation, I could agree with pretty-awful. AWFUL might be slightly strong. In a post-Tennessee win situation, I would go with ok or not that great.

        Agreed. Unless they really tank.

While Turg was obviously instrumental in helping to resurrected WSU from the bottom 1/3rd of D1 to the upper 1/3rd or such, he really is otherwise a pretty mediocre coach. He just caught lightning in a bottle here during that 1.5 season run.

If for some reason many years down the road 3G moved on and we re-hired an available Turg, I would instantly need a prescription to an anti-depressant.

            • Turg provides value in certain coaching situations. Elite coach he is not.

I believe A&M's RPI was in the 140s prior to the win @ Tennessee boosting them to 114. Either way, Tennessee is a NCAA bubble team. Losing to a top 150 team like A&M is far from the unforgivable offense that the original post made it out to be. Given WuDrWu's post just last week about NIT-ish Marquette being a "Thursday night team in the MVC", I just thought I'd point out that WuDrWu has been a bit heavy on the exageration recently.

Just ask him how he thought WSU was gonna do last year.

A physician called into a radio show and said:

Or maybe you and Doc just have different definitions of "terrible." To use a familiar example, I would say DePaul is "terrible." DePaul's OoC RPI is about 50 pts better than A&M's. Losing to a terrible team doesn't mean it's a terrible loss going off of RPI standards.

Just like your comments about DePaul and Marquette, I think you are once again exagerating by quite a bit.

177? Instead of "AWFUL" would you roll with "butt-stanky"? Cuz' that's kind of where I see 177.

I would let you call the #177 team in the country "butt-stanky", but you have to ignore Texas A&M's last 2 games (wins over top 100 opponents) in order to rank them there. Using 177 in this argument means you aren't being intelectually honest.

Using a number that was the perception of the A&M team prior to the Tennessee game actually seems more honest. It should include the Arkansas win, which would put the RPI somewhere probably halfway between the 177 and 114 numbers being thrown around.
