    It's a Christmas miracle!

Looks like somehow Davidson still had a reasonable rpi around 140 before, but they added a top 100 win this way. Charlotte was around 70ish. It gives me a little more hope that one of our other teams that we expected to be solid might still have some fuel left in the tank after such a rough start.

When you've got a conference with teams that lose to Chicago St and IUPUI, you really need Davidson beating Charlotte :)

    • Wait a minute.

Bradley is chipping away at that lead. 40-48 at 12:00.

IUPUI is an NCAA force, but the Gargles just might pull out this upset

      UPDATE: 47-53, 9:00

      • Conference rpi is going down faster than the Titanic. That doesn't matter much to WSU. Conference rpi was never going to be a factor this year. htere's not much reason to support other Valley teams in OOC games. Quality wins won't happen, and it's doubtful any of the "bad loss" teams will get out of that category with their remaining OOC schedules.

        • You know it is bad when you read the weekly press release from the valley and the only good things that can be said of some of the other teams is:

Illinois State is ridding its first winning streak of the season TWO GAMES. Never mind those two games are vs a team with an RPI of 286 San Francisco and a DII team Sonoma State.

Loyola is only a few possessions away from being 8-0 this season. WHO CARES about might have been? With the 258th ranked schedule you should be 8-0 instead of 3-5. You have losses to teams with RPIs of 259, 307 and 334 and these RPIs will not improve over the season. What a joke.

SIU went 1-3 in Flordia at the GULF COAST SHOWCASE. Huh? The GULF COAST SHOWCASE? playing teams like St Bonaventure, Stetson and San Diego (Not San Diego State, just San Diego) and you only went 1-2, like that is something to be proud of.

Yawn, Wichita State is in the top 10/11 of the polls, had another in-season tourney win. They had the Tourney MVP, Cotton got a double double at St Louis and they have had 6 20+ point individual scoring games this year so far.

              • By losing to winless IUPUI, BU's rpi dropped from 79 to 183. Their rpi raw score dropped from .5696 to .4867.

The Horizon League's rpi is actually being helped by Loyola leaving their conference. The HL's conference average is .5150. Loyola's is .4163. The HL is the 12th conference in rpi, while the Valley is 10th. We are in a league that is just that close to the Horizon League.

Just for compaarison purposes, the worst rpi in the Horizon League is Illinois-Chicago at .4530. The difference between Loyola and UI-C is only 48 places (UI-C is 230, Loyolas is 278). In the middle ranges of rpi, the difference in raw scores would result in a much larger difference in their ranking. That low in the rpi, there aren't as many teams, so it takes a larger gain in raw score to move up from the pits than it does to move up in the mid range of rpi scores.

It looks like the conference scheduled us for an away game at a school in the 250 - 300 rpi range. The conference would have been MUCH better off staying at 9 schools until they found a school that could actually help the league and was willing to join the league.

                    • The Valley effing sucks. We must drop this anchor before we get dragged further down into this miserable hell. Aargh is right. It's pretty much useless to root on any Valley schools from now on. Nothing really is going to repair all of the damage that has been done. Once again, WSU will be carrying the Valley's jockstraps.

                      ... No really, deuces.

Let's go to the Summit League. At least they're playing Louisville....

ILSU fan here.....what site are you using for RPI? I have seen WSU fans quote projected RPI, real time, and the .4530 # you have here. I like to keep an eye on different things and just want to know what you're using.

Also, Baker is a freak. It's a testament to his quickness, which I had vastly underrated, that he only has 14 fouls thru 8 games while averaging 30.5 minutes with the new, tighter rules being enforced. He's clearly quick enough to play with his feet and not his hands. He's going to be fun to watch (except for the 2-3 games against us) the next couple years.
