Keep in mind he has already had a redshirt year, so he's already going to be at least 22-23 during his rookie year. That means he will have the age argument against him as well. Add to that Ron will be a bit shorter than desired for a shooting guard. His skills are more developed than Early, but Early had all the physical tools you could want and still slipped out of the first round.

Unless he has a phenomenal year, he won't get that guaranteed contract, so maybe he sticks around for his senior year.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take....

.....but, statistically speaking, you miss 99% of the shots you do take.

    • To state the obvious, it will all depend on where he is slotted when April rolls around.

So, in other words, one spot behind Early in ESPN's final 2014 mock draft. Hmmmm...

        • ESPN Magazine had Cle going #20 in their final mock. ESPN/Ford's final mock had him at #33.

            • Ron's got NBA game fer sure. 1st rounder after next season. This years draft was deep at Cle's position. Ron plays a different position. Ron = 1st Rounder 2015!!!

Sorry, Play Angry, and thanks for the correction. You'd think after all these years of counting I'd know that 19 is one spot ahead of 20 (what I was referring to), not one spot behind.
I don't think Baker is going anywhere this year anyway, but (as my previous post showed) I've been wrong before.

                • I would guess that after Ron has an All-American type season this year he will go to the NBA.
The mountains are calling, and I must go.

Ron did not need a redshirt season to develop. The sad thing is that, had he played on the 2011-2012 team, he may have been the competitive edge for the team to defeat VCU in the first round. He would not have been intimidated and would have most likely been the first guard off of the bench to back up Murry and maybe Ragland. He would have helped Stutz and we may have been Elite 8 or Sweet 16. Just speculation but he would have helped.

It could be worse. He could graduate this year and then transfer to KU for a year of grad school.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

There were not enough minutes to go around to justify burning a year of his eligibility. Not only did we have the aforementioned Murry and Ragland on our perimeter averaging high-20s minutes a game, but we also had Demetric Williams and David Kyles with low/mid-20s minutes a game. Ben Smith played significant minutes too. There was also a freshman named Tekele Cotton who only got 10 minutes a game. If Ron played, who would have sat? To answer that, you have to use your thoughts from the fall of 2011 and not use 20-20 hindsight that we have now. The thought at the time was that Ron would be more productive as a fifth-year senior than a first-year freshman. Nobody knew that Ron would ball up and make it possible that we wouldn't see that fifth year.
