I heard Bob Lutz talking about Baker the other day, before I could get my radio off the station, and he said someone had compared Ron Baker to Larry Bird. That is a stretch after watching Larry Legend in the roundhouse. The player he does bring to mind is Kirk Hinrich. Now I am no big fan of the chickens, but simply look at the similarities of their game. You had to enjoy Hinrich's toughness and all around game, which are hallmarks for RB. Ron may have a better pure stroke. KH was the 7th overall pick, made the all rookie team and has once been on the all defensive team. Read the wiki page on KH and some of the bio stuff will even sound familiar.Robin Roberts: "My mother used to say, when you strut, you stumble."

Ron Baker going pro after this season would be an epic mistake of Korleone Young proportions. It's safe to say that Baker is about a thousand times more reality-based than most fans. Comparing Baker to Bird is stupid at this point. I'm not knocking Baker, but I don't see any reason to believe that he will ever become one of the best players in the history of basketball. For that matter, if Cotton guarded Baker every game then I bet Baker would have a lot of 5 for 15 nights until he realized that he should quit shooting so much against Cotton. I'm just glad that they're teammates. Let Baker have a great time at WSU without all this NBA lottery nonsense.

i don't see the hinrich comparison. hinrich got up the court fast, like, armstead fast- not that baker is slow. and i'm still not 100% comfortable with baker running the point- he runs the floor well, though.
