Pretty much. I loved Ballentine last year, but he just had to play behind Colt. He's a stronger, more well rounded version of Colt. In other words, good.

Maybe. Balentine was a good not great freshman last year. I haven't seen him play this year. Marty Simmons boy is a freshman forward averaging double digits as well. No post depth or defense in Evansville, but they can score. They've played a moderate schedule but will be tested at Indiana on Tuesday.

          • In the first half of Oral Roberts' 72-55 loss at Saint Louis on Thursday night sophomore guard Obi Egemano went down with a knee injury, leaving the program to hold out hope that the results of the MRI would be favorable.

Oral Roberts loses their leading offensive player for the year.

Well that sucks for us. One less team that could potentially help the ole RPI. Doubtful ORU will do much now.

That being said, I realize it's been mostly against terrible competition, but Evansville is putting up stats that make Creighton jealous. DJ Ballentine scored 29 points for the 4th time in 5 games (I think it was intentional tonight). They are shooting nearly 60% AS A TEAM from the field and over 50% AS A TEAM from 3 and almost 80% from the line. Those are incredible numbers against 1 road apple, but they've done it over 5 games and I don't care who you're playing, that's impressive.
New foul rules may help Evansville more than any other team in the Valley. I think they'll end up in the 4-6 range along with MSU and Bradley, but if they can keep that type of production up they may end up winning a few games they shouldn't and finishing higher.

The good news is that Gibbs already has tenure at Creighton. The bad news is that professors aren't allowed to play.

In all seriousness, Gibbs is a terrific player and a huge asset for the Blueboys, and I've been waiting for him to leave for so long that now that's he's finally finishing up, they've had time to move to a whole separate league.

Not to mention that it's really gonna hurt your "ORU over WSU" prediction.

                      • I'm not sold on EU yet. I've heard this tune before. They've played defenses 8th grade basketball teams could play against.

Let's see how well they fare on the road in Bloomington next week.

I wouldn't call their schedule good, but both Mercer and Valpo (7 and 8 point wins respectively) are projected to have a better RPI at the end of the year than Tulsa and Western Kentucky. They have played "moderate" competition and teams they SHOULD beat. Indiana will be quite telling if the Aces are for real.

What? Hmmmm, I don't recall ever making that this year. Oh wait, you're assuming that's what I'll do. Well fella, since you missed my comment to WuDr, I've predicted non con losses to TN, St. Lou, Bama and BYU.
