I think we start out these games thinking that we can't play our normal defense because we don't want to get into early foul trouble. That leaves us lacking our normal standard on defense. Giving up some easy baskets and open looks because we aren't locking down so much.

Our defensive intensity fuels our offense, so when one is not firing, the other doesn't get going either. An overall timidness with the team instead of a play angry and destroy mentality from the get go.

In the 2nd half, we see that none of our guys are in foul trouble so we start to open up the gas on defense, knowing that we have some breathing room. I think we also get more comfortable with the fouling situation, once we see how the flow is going.

After we get through the first half, our guys start getting into their groove, coupled along with our depth and the opposing team's lack of, fatigue becomes our advantage.

Result: 15-20 point win as opposed to a 40 pt win.
