Between Kadeem, CJ, and DC, we got 21 pts, 12 boards, and 6 blocks. Another productive night. Keep it up guys.

            • Thoughts and takeaways:
              • Van Vleet, Baker, and Early are great. Not good, great. And the scary thing is that it wasn't even a good night for Early or Baker. If all three have a good game, I don't see us losing
              • Post play is incredibly inconsistent. The physical talent is there, but the mental side of things isn't where it needs to be. Need better shots, better rebounding, consistent effort.
              • Wessel needs some confidence. Just seems shaken up whenever he tries to score.
              • Love these stats: 49 points for WKU (28.6% FG%), us with 12 blocks, 9 steals, 16 assists,
              • Didn't love these stats: 43-40 rebounding loss (21-10 offensive), 0-4 from Carter, 27.3% from 3
              • Love the fact that we have a new Final Four banner. Wish it fit with the rest (minimalism is good!)
On the positive side, you could say that we had a fairly bad game and still won by 18 points against a team favored to win their conference. On the negative side, you could instead talk about how the post play might cost us games later on.

Overall all though, I'm far more positive than negative. We are absolutely dominant defensively and I'm confident the rebounding will improve. We have three absolute studs, and that will win a lot of games. If our rebounding improves, our new posts figure out their roles, and we start knocking down the 3 we won't just be "dangerous," we'll be one of the best teams in the country.

              • Always nice to beat a solid, well-coached team by 17 on a night (make that morning) where you did not play anywhere close to your A game overall. Still the Shocks did a lot of good things, but they also have significant room to improve, which actually is a positive considering we have one D-1 game under our belts this year.

Crowd was very good. Not sure how the crowd came across on TV, but it was quite good in person.

                • Anytime #WatchUs is trending nationally, it's a good night for Shocker basketball.

                  • Great night. I loved the game. Beating a good WKU by 17 points is a very nice win. My only complaints are that there was no low brass cheer tonight and no "shock-o-meter". But tonight's crowd was so pumped we really didn't even need those things tonight.

I want to start calling it TKO'd!!!

It rolls off the tongue almost the same way as Tekele, and the definition of a TKO is pretty much what he does to people.

                      • Ron had a sneaky good game.

But as I sit here at home trying to come down enough to sleep I see sports center tease sCUm vs UMKC and "don you know how good Greg McWookie is?"

TV off. F that. It is too early in the year to start that bit of felatio. Nope.gif

                        • Wow! Wichita fans....AWESOME job!!! Looked and sounded great on the National Stage AGAIN!!!

Shockers look VERY TOUGH. It's gonna take a VERY GOOD team to catch the Shockers on a bad night to win this year.
                          Deep - athletic - so very-well coached!!!
Pretty sick squad (program) Wichita St. has got it going these past 3-4 years!!!

                          • The Clinton administration may have introduced midnight basketball but Shocker Nation perfected it.

                              • The round house looked great on espn2. After the WSU game, the Akron at St. Mary's game came on (which also started at midnight local time in California) and their tiny little gym was mostly empty. A good contrast between the Shocker fan base and. that of St. Mary's.
