I'm telling you, we're going to have to make serious adjustments.

I just don't know how we are going to do it. We have to make adjustments and no one else will?

Every team will have to make adjustments. Luckily for us, we can disperse the fouls over 10-12 guys, instead of 7-10 players like most teams.

And it should benefit athletic teams who can get their defenders in positions in which they are forced to foul, it's just about whether or not we are willing to attack.

Also, gonna be really easy for someone to pick up 3 fouls quickly.

Baylor picked 3rd in Big 12 by coaches at media day. Another note KU Pitt State a ton of fouls last night.

I think this is going to be hard on freshmen and first year JUCOs. Early's biggest problem last year was that he sometimes picked up fouls too quickly and got himself out of the game, for instance. Defenders are going to have to play smart or not play at all. It wouldn't surprise me at all if scoring goes down by a fair amount just because good scorers will be sitting on the bench with foul trouble more often.

If defenders aren't allowed to touch guys driving to the hoop, I can see WSU having some advantages over a lot of teams, and about every Valley team. Valley teams have been slowing the Shox down by bumping, pushing, bodying up, and about every other method more likely to be seen on a football field.

I wonder how the Nate Funk bull rush ("you can't back up fast enough that I can't jump into you when I shoot") is going to be called? I thought I heard an announcer say charging had been changed so a defender had to have position established before a shooter went into his shooting motion, instead of having position established before contact was made.

If that's the case, it seems the "jump into the defender" trick will reward a shooter with a lot of FT's.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Seems to me that the teams with the best and most aggressive slashers are going to rack up mad points. Someone else wisely said that this could help Nick Wiggins big time. AGREED. And Cle. Are Rian and Derail slashers?

Unless Derail has turned into a slasher in the last year, he is known more as a guy that shoots 3 pointers witha few other jumpers mixed in. However, Fred and Tekele are also guys that can draw a lot of fouls in traffic.

I hate that trash. I don't care who it benefits, including us.

My excitement for the college basketball season is slowly being shunted thanks to the NCAA and their stupid tactics to "control" the game.

Most of the fouls I saw last night were the result of sloppy defense and breakdowns (KU) or Pitt State simply being overmatched by KU. I didn't see a lot of fouls as the result of hand checks, etc. But I didn't watch the entire game. Can't stand to listen to the mouthgasms of Chris Piper and Dave Armstrong... if every Jayhawk literally pooped their pants on national television, they would rave about the great (offensive smelling) defense on the part of the Jayhawks..

...on second thought, they would rave on about how their poop doesn't stink...

I'm right there with you brother. I actually can more easily tolerate Pipe than I can Armstrong. I don't honestly wish bad things on too many people, but I wouldn't have a problem with Dave suffering at the hands of a variety of plagues. He's evil and a scourge on society.

With this rule change, some consideration should have been given to increasing personal fouls from 5 to 6 per player. I've heard Doug Gottlieb talk about it a few times, and it makes total sense. A 3rd foul in the first half kills so many team's game plans, especially if it's a key block player. Adding a 6th foul would essentially mean a 3rd would allow the player to remain in the game before the half. If the NCAA is so intent on replicating the NBA, maybe they need to look at this issue. They can't have it both ways.

Yes it benefits the offense . But hard for WSU to score if the best players are on the bench in foul trouble due to getting this ticky tack **** called on them. And sure they can "play defense with their feet" however it will still affect the aggressiveness that WSU can play defense with. Just gonna have to out score people in shootouts and from the stripe I guess
