On paper we are mules ahead of the MVC, but this team hasn't done anything yet and it's possible that so,e of our MVC brethren are much better than they appear on paper.
Anyone happen to notice how bad our post defense looked last night? Despite the bad D, did you notice that none of our posts scored with their backs to the basket?
We should be favored to win every game this year. We should be extremely disappointed if/when we lose. I will however not pretend to know how good my opponent is when I haven't even seen them. That's just plain naive. And for those that want the geezers to relax, I say grow up! Act like you've been there and realize that this kind of success can be pulled out from under you as fast as it arrived.Livin the dream

Gonzaga has gone undefeated in league play three times in the last nine years. Memphis lost one conference games in Cal's last four seasons at Memphis. This year's watered down MVC is pretty dadgum comparable to the WCC and CUSA in those seasons. And I think the 13-14 Shockers are certainly on par with those Gonzaga and Memphis squads.
17-1 would still qualify as absolutely curb stomping this league if that makes you feel better. 16-2 as well. In the future, whenever someone posts confidently about how awesome and fun this season's team is going to be, let's resist the urge to respond with "BUT WE'RE GONNA LOSE AT LEAST ONCE CUZ REMEMBER EVANSVILLE" type stuff.
Have fun and enjoy being the best. #PostConfidently, #NotScared.

It's our message board. We're coming off a Final Four. We have every excuse in the world to obnoxiously gloat about this conference. 18-0 may not happen, but we can sure as hell act like it's gonna.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

I will say it again. We are going to absolutely destroy the MVC this year. And I am going to LOVE watching every second of it. The cream has finally risen to the top and our advantages in coaching, attendance, budget and facilities are creating a Grand Canyon-sized chasm between ourselves and the rest of this league. Sure, there will be close games. Maybe (or maybe not) even a loss or two sprinkled in there. But ain't nobody gonna come close to keeping pace with us over the course of 18 games in the MVC. The average game against WSU will be about as much fun for other Valley fans as a chainsaw abortion.
To get this thread back on topic somewhat: Cleanthony is going to have a hell of a hard time breaking any kind of scoring records this season because we have such a strong supporting cast around the guy. But he is a top shelf stud who, on lesser past teams, would put up 25 ppg without blinking an eye. What kind of numbers does everyone expect from him this season?
