Expectations?

Coming off a final 4 run and going toe to toe with the best team in the nation last year. What are your guys expectations for our Shocks this year? Reg and Tourney MVC Champs? NCAA birth? Sweet 16? Final Four?

My hope is that the Shocks can avoid any impactful injuries. My expectations are that the Shocks will play very hard and will be very entertaining. My goals are the same as the team's -- a National Championship.

MVC regular season and tourney titles. No more than 5 losses total going into the NCAA tournament. A 5 seed or better and no worse than a Sweet 16. We could do much better but to advance in the Dance requires some luck and no bad games. And you never know who you're going to run into or who's going to go off or whatever. As per usual, my goal is to see this team win the whole damn thing and that's never going to change.

I think predicting tournament success in one given year is difficult. Ya never know.

My hope - is this team will come out focused and play team basketball and set aside their own personal selfishness and win at everthing they do. Raise their level so they play at consistent, high level. If they are going to be beat it will be because their opponent stepped up their level of play, not because WSU didn't show up mentally.

My fear - is of the newcomer not meshing well or somebody decides it about them instead of just accepting their role on the team.

My expecation - WSU wins the MVC and have an at-large resume.

A national championship?!?! Hilarious. Your mid major team has gone to the tournament, what, 3 times in the past 25 years or so and flamed out the second time when you were the better seed. Talking about national championship like you are some perennial powerhouse that makes it to the tournament often. So delusional and entertaining.

By the way I am a Creighton fan and I know we have underperformed but we are going to make it to the super six now that we are no longer mid major. Oh we don't think winning the NIT foreshadows anything useful because we all know that teams that win the NIT suck and nobody cares about it.

What I want

1)stay healthy
2)Win the Valley regular season
3)Win the Valley post season

What I expect

1)Play Angry
2)Graduate our seniors
3)For the program to remain clean on and off the court

I think DJ expressing interest in coaching instead of transferring is the barometer for the team chemistry. We will be alright

That's right. He one ups himself every year in one way or another. He already has a regular season title and high winning percentage in 11-12, an NIT title in 10-11 and a F4. With that in mind, all that is left would be:
Arch Madness title
NCAA title shot

What else is there? Well I suppose he doesn't have a CBE or CIT title yet :)

I am pretty comfortable with setting my expectations for this year at getting the elusive win in St Louis.

That would be great! I remember leaving arch madness last year saying that I was proud of our team for making the title game and they exceeded my expectations. Little did I know what was going to happen a few weeks later! I really hate leaving St Louis losing, this year we can turn that around!

I'm not that set on the St. Louis thing. But if we do manage to win it, I'm going to party harder than I did after advancing to the Final Four, since according to other Valley fans it is more impressive. I think they've kind of set themselves up for that one without thinking it through.

I think we win the regular season this year, but we always seem to have a 'down' game in St. Louis. I hope they can prove me wrong on that this year. As for other expectations, I am just hoping we get a Sweet 16. Being solid under the basket is the big question in my mind right now.

One time a buddy asked me if I would rather have my fovorite team win the Super Bowl and never sniff the playoffs again or reach the playoffs year in and year out but never win the whole thing. I chose reach the playoffs year in and year out. To me that translates to winning arch madness year in and year out to make in to the NCAA tournament every year vs having one amazing year and never get into the tourney again...
