  • Roster 2013-2014

1- FVV (So), Ria'n Holland (Fr)
2- Ron Baker (rSo), Tekele Cotton (Jr), JR Simon (wFr)
3- Wiggins (Sr), Wessel (rSo), Derail (rFr)
4- Cle (Sr), Carter (Jr), Morris (Fr), Bush (rwFr)
5- Coleby (tSr), CJ Lufile (Sr)

Guard minutes don't look near so convoluted.
    Think about this:
    Baker, Wessel, Green, Cle, CJ.

Why do you have Bush and Green in the F section when both are better suited to be in the SF section? Both CJ and Shaq are capable of playing either post spot, but I'm not expecting much from CJ. He has to show a lot of improvement to see much court time. And don't get me wrong, I understand you only listed players in one position but admitted that some will play multiple positions.

PG - FVV, Baker, Cotton, Holland
    SG - Baker, Cotton, Wessel
SF - Baker, Cotton, Wessel, Wiggins, Green, Cle
PF - Cle, Carter, Shaq, Lufile, Green
    C - Coleby, Shaq, Lufile

I believe those are what everyone is capable of and may see time at. Without Bowles, it does open up some things and SF has a lot of options. And those lists are in no particular order as far as expected PT at any one position. I expect us to go mostly 9 or 10 deep, but everyone who doesn't RS will play some. I didn't include walk-ons as I don't expect either to factor into much outside of blowouts.

One of the post players will be the odd man out for the most part. We know it's not Cle, Carter or Coleby which means it's between Shaq and CJ. My money is on Shaq getting more PT.

I think Holland could work his way into PT later in the season like FVV did. He'll be given some developmental opportunities throughout unless they choose to RS him this year. I hope Wiggins is ready to step up, or else he'll find himself behind Green. Both are shooters, but if Wiggins continues to struggle with certain aspects like he did last year, I think Marshall will go with the younger guy who has more developmental upside. If Wiggins does step up, Green will sit more and mature as he learns and be ready to play more next season. That will be an interesting battle as well. The rest are going to get plenty of PT.

I'm expecting a good season from Wiggins. He had a year and half to figure out what he needs to do to make an impact. He seems like a guy that wants to succeed and will do what it takes. Plus, I really like what he briings to the table with his slashing and shooting at his size.

Fair enough. I thought GoShockers only listed someone as a G, F, or C.

Actual talk of basketball. I'm astounded.

October 18 is only three weeks away. Sure looking forward to seeing the new Shockers in person. Also Derail and Coleby in action. I really miss living in Wichita about 3/4mile from the Koch.

I guess today's article may have answered this debate. Sounds like Shaq is having problems staying healthy.

                    The 'master' of quotes...

“You’ll have to ask Shaq,” Marshall said. “It’s like the game ‘Operation.’ The funny bone and the ham bone and the knee bone. He’s got a lot of those. I’ve never been around an individual that had more a variety of injuries. I bet there’s been 15 different injuries.”

Guys that aren't fit seem to struggle early in Marshall's system. A RS might be just the thing to let Shaq get game fit.

Yeah, with D.J. Bowles situation and with Shaq's injury issues keeping him off the court (and he wasn't the most fit guy when he arrived) we have flip-flopped the likely RS candidate from the smallest guy on the team to the biggest guy on the team. At this point I don't see a lot of PT for Shaq this year so I agree a RS year may be the best thing for him.

I saw him talk about Shaq in a link on another site and that's bad news. CJ HAS to step way the hell up from where he was last year or it could hurt us in a big way. An injury or foul trouble in the post will be problematic.
