    I think there's an interesting difference between basketball and football on this subject. If you look at BCS bowl games in football, Nielsen ratings drop considerably when non-BCS teams are involved -- and then recover significantly the next year. It's about a 1.3 Nielsen drop/recovery with their involvement. This year's Orange Bowl is one of the only times a non-BCS team's involvement has resulted in a rating's increase over the previous year -- and I still maintain that's because FSU is ratings gold ;)

    That's not the case at ALL in basketball, though. The NCAA tournament is built on the idea of the underdogs.

    Any BCS/non-BCS split that happens in the future will be all about football. Basketball won't be touched.
