What's to prevent the relationships than can grow out of scrimmaging a quality opponent, getting acquainted with the coaches, and developing some mutual respect for each other's program from leading to a game or even a home-and-home at some point?

Yep, I think it has everything to do with the Shox not quite being in the category of "good loss" that Norlander brought up and that points to all three of the mentioned teams realizing they were going to have their asses handed to them by Marshall's Madmen.

This would be their perception of a good/bad loss. At the end of the year, Norlander knows that WSU would be a good non-conference loss in a schools RPI and he is being critical of their lack of understanding in this area.
