Keep in mind though that with Title IX rules it would be hard for any one men's sport to consume too much of the budget. Even a crazy lopsided school like Alabama only speeds about 37% of its budget on football. Auburn is 34%.
    Ah, good catch.

If KU didn't have football, they wouldn't be in the B12. Or at least would get a hugely limited supply of the B12 TV contract, which makes up for any football related expenses a dozen times over. Kansas doesn't have to have a good football team to make football worthwhile. If they never win a game again, they're still doing awesome, monetarily.

Unfortunately, that's not something we could fix with a football program. It would take us a decade plus just to make FBS level, even assuming the BCS conferences don't redefine the FBS soon, and doing so might take so many resources away from basketball that we lose the part that would make us attractive to a conference.
