While my previous posts underscore my distaste for these concepts (not that they matter) and preference for clean, classic looks, there are in fact several reasons to change the current uniforms.

    1. There was been the embarrassing inconsistency of some players' uniforms have arched lettering and some having straight lettering on "Wichita."
    2. The dropshadowing of numbers on our current uniforms is maybe not the greatest design choice.
    3. If you really like clean looks, getting rid of the white underarm sections of the black uni's would be good.
    4. There is currently no consistency with the basketball uniforms and athletic department branding. No font consistency, no use of department trademarks/wordmarks (other than F4 jersey, which had other design problems).
    5. Aside from all these reasons, getting a redesign from Nike would be reason in and of itself because it speaks to Nike's interest in the school which is a message that matters to recruits.

Also didn't we decide we were paying for our jerseys last year? I know if Nike designed our new jerseys I'd have a better shot at being able to buy one and that's all I want.

Another thing that is quasi-annoying (at least to me) is that we don't have a department-wide exclusive apparel deal. Both hoops teams use Nike, volleyball uses Mizuno, baseball uses Under Armour, softball uses Adidas, track uses Asics, and I am not sure what tennis or golf uses. I'd love to get some consistency with that. Of course, there could also be some financial perks from getting an exclusive apparel deal. Also, if I am sitting here talking about it, I'm sure higher ups in the administration are certainly aware of that issue as well.

I too agree that I'd really love Nike to make a WSU basketball jersey that could be bought by the public. I refuse to buy a knockoff brand version.

The national sports media is even acknowledging that Wichita State is a Hi-Major program, and it's past time that our jerseys match our branding.

Some companies make better uniforms for certain sports.

You know it's the offseason when there's this much chatter about uniforms. This I know for certain: no matter what the final uniform design, there will be people that hate them, people that love them, and people that don't care what our uniforms look like as long as we are dominating.

I think the way the teams are currently using manufacturers is appropriate. Ink a deal for NIKE basketball. Mizuno is the top volleyball company. Baseball and softball are probably a wash. I think I have seen NIKE for the golf team. I bet tennis is a wash too.

I am sure it is up to the different staffs. But a nationally know program does need to have its jerseys and shirts out on the open market for all to buy.

Wasn't exactly sure where to post this, so I will just post it here. A lot of people have probably seen the Nike WSU basketball shorts that you can buy on Eastbay. I just happened to look at Eastbay to see if anymore Shocker gear was listed, and there was not. That said, those basketball shorts have now been marked down. Rather than $79.99, they are now listed at $39.99. Just thought I'd pass that along to anyone who might be interested.
