I'm honestly surprised that Jans hasn't been considered for more jobs the past few years. I doubt there are many associate head coaches for any school in the country better and more ready than him to lead a team of their own. With that said, I love having him here and would love to keep him forever.
I think FGCU was pretty serious about Jans, even though he may not fit their Dunk City persona to a T.

Dooley probably just told them what they wanted to hear, and KU did like to throw the lob.

our record against BcS is positive.
His paycheck is good, our record is good, our facilities are good, our travel is good & our future compared to a Final Four run looks good.
No it doesn't matter. I was just curious and didn't know if it had been posted and I just missed it somewhere.

So the Celtics just hired Butler's Brad Stevens. In the past we've always talked about the possibilities of Marshall leaving for other college positions, but do we know if he would have any interest in coaching pro ball?

Whoa that's a shock to me. Usually college coaches don't care for going up to the NBA because it's a completely different situation. I personally don't see Marshall doing that until he at least gets a National Championship under his belt. He's still pretty young and has a lot to accomplish.

NBA coaching seems to be more about managing personalities than managing games.

I don't know if some of the NBA divas would like Gregg in their grill.

Take the dough saved from Mean Gene and give to Jans and other assistants.

Agree. But I think his recruiting budget is already so large it is essentially limitless. HC3G has said there are private jets available to him any time he needs one. And doesn't the team already fly charter to all thier games? It looks like 3G already has all the money he wants and needs for travel.

That is unless he wants WSU to buy his program one of these:

I don't agree SB. I think the pay only matters to 3G to the extent that it proves to him that he is wanted, and his family is able to live a very comfortable lifestyle with a financially secure future. So I think he was being completely honest with his hamburger comment in reference to his pay.

I think what truely drives 3G is not higher pay, but rather the challenge of winning. He has a burning desire to do what THEY say can't be done. WSU can't beat a BCS team. So 3G goes out and does it. WSU can't make the Sweet Sixteen, or the Elite Eight, or the Final Four. So 3G goes out and does it. Tell the man he can't do something, and he'll fight like hell to prove you wrong. But he has to be given a chance to fight. That means putting money into his program. If he wants more money for travel as RdR stated above, then put it there. If he wants more money in assistant pay, recruiting, facilities, promotion, then put it there. Those are the things that will give 3G a fighting chance. Not his pay. And 3G knows it.

I'm sure 3G will leave someday, but it won't be for the money (although he will undoubtedly recieve better pay at his next job), as he has plenty of money here. If and when he leaves, it will be for a new challenge.

The next challenge will be filling the shoes of a legend at a blue blood program. I think he stays here and we have a lot of good seasons until he has built a résumé worthy of replacing a legend, and then he leaves for that.

To me, while I would be sad, I would see that as a cool thing just like a player making the NBA.

3G told a group of us at practice two years ago, what he enjoys is TEACHING. There isn't much of that in the NBA.
