Wichita State Shockers
Who they have: The Shockers have already locked up athletic small forward Zach Brown, who is an excellent slasher, perimeter scorer and finisher on the break. He also fits the tough, aggressive approach of Shockers coach Gregg Marshall.
Who they want: A couple of four-star prospects, power forward Gary Clark and center Makinde London, would give the Shockers excellent athletic ability. Both are talented with tremendous potential. Other targets include power forward Tory Miller, who is a big-bodied post with great upside, and shooting guard Omega Harris, who would add an athletic scorer to the mix.
Storyline to watch: Marshall works the high school ranks, but it will be interesting to see the next junior college standout he can add to the Shockers' roster, like he did with point guard Joe Ragland in 2010, power forward Carl Hall in 2011 and small forward Cleanthony Early in 2012. Hall and Early were major players in the Shockers' run to the Final Four this past season.
Bold prediction: Clark selects the Shockers after being courted by SEC and ACC programs and provides Marshall with a skilled, athletic and versatile forward who can create matchup problems.
Overall recruiting trend: Wichita State recruiting is definitely trending up. Marshall has done a great job of blending high school and junior college talent, and that trend should continue. In addition to the juco recruiting success, the Shockers signed ESPN 100 point guard Fred Van Vleet in 2012, and he made his presence felt immediately in the team's Final Four run.
