There were a few seconds left on the clock when that one went in. 3 or 4 seconds maybe?

I would say they are both close, but the table moved on the FVV shot.
FVV's shot wasn't a game winning shot, though it did sustain momentum. He had more time to think about the shot. He misses that shot and we still probably would have won -- well actually hard to say. It was freaking awesome though.
Braeuer had just seconds to catch and release with no timeout prior to discuss, and it was a game winner.
I dunno. It's just not as obvious to me. But you're probably right because I got to watch a final four live, partially because of FVV's shot. So I yield.Kung Wu say, man who read woman like book, prefer braille!

You also have to keep in mind that Braeuer's shot came during a time when every other team seemed to hit game winners against us. Tolliver hit one for Creighton earlier that year to beat us. David Moss from Indiana State hit one a few years before that (after a really bad jump ball call against Randy Burns). Ben Jacobson hit one for Northern Iowa in 04-05 on our Senior Night. Heck, we lost to Vanderbilt the year before on a layup when they only had .7 seconds to get it off.
To have one finally go our way was special.

I'll put it this way.
If someone outside the university was going to compile a list of Shocker highlights, they're probably going to grab FVV's because it was on a bigger stage.
My broader point was, FVV is no stranger to needing to create something outta nothing when the clock is a tickin'"When life hands you lemons, make lemonade." Better have some sugar and water too, or else your lemonade will suck!

For those of you excited about Mr. Carter, please understand and believe that he will make us happy ShockerNetters. I heard about it and then eyeballed it my own self. He is making me smile from ear to ear and that is scary. Mr. Green can really shoot the rock and this is no secret. He has lots of experienced players ahead of him and I hope he is patient this Season. His time will come. It is awesome to have Mr. Wessel back and healthy.
Can we rap about these Final 4 Shocks and this coming Season? A concern of mine from jump street has been the all important QB position. I liked the fact that 3G brought FVV in at crucial moments more and more, even at the Dance. So far this summer, from what I have seen, he has taken his new and larger role very, very seriously. Cle, Ron "I got this" Baker and FreshVV have been lighting up the scrimmages from 21st and Hillside like an immaculate Christmas tree. I heard about it, and then witnessed it for myself in the flesh. Overall, we have better shooters as a team during scrimmages with no bright lights. What does this mean? Dunno!!! FVV has really looked solid and during the dribbling drills he looks like a wizard and I am Not wheedling you one iota. Can u dig that? Groooooovy!!!
Who will back FVV up? My limited exposure has no solid answers other than if our Freshmen lag behind somewhat, Mr. Cotton and Baker 'the Maker" can both come in together and take care of the 1 and 2 slots as FVV takes a blow. Does this scare you because it most likely does not worry Sub or yours truly. I miss Sub's imput!!!
Let me reiterate this. I like our inside game this Season and our quality depth. It rocks my black and yellow clock baybay. Coleby!!!?!! I think we will really like his game as he starts at the 5 spot.. Shaq? He is a competitor and has a "learning curve and culture Shock" to deal with that will test him to the very max. Chadrack is a Senior Juco player that was a Junior Juco player learning the ropes. Just remember that our Senior Juco players really rise up. History has a tendency to repeat itself? With that said, I really like what I see in Nick Wiggins. However, i am very Offensive minded, maybe to a fault. 3G has a focus for the D--FENCE and I would have given him "National Coach Of The Year" last Season. Thus, we will see if Nick has a Senior Season to remember.
Doc as usual is spot on. Chemistry, chemistry., chemistry. If we find the right elixir around Dance time, we will again have a grand ole time as the fans of the teams we play just do not understand why they had such an off night? Splain? After all, what was the odds of a 2nd place Valley team giving Louisville the scare of their Season at the Final 4? Too bad Baker received a double foul while falling to the hardwood and slapped in his face twice before hitting the floor? Okay, don't ask me to justify such enigmas because I am a man of few words? Tsk, tsk, tsk.
Last but not least, I have gray areas that only time will tell. Will we again be a stellar rebounding team? Will we play team "hair on fire" defense like last Season or even better? Look at the assets and productions of Hall, Armstead, and Cle brought to the Dance. Will we have 3 such "go to players" and or, a committee of players that can do such feats? Stay tuned. October will be here before you know it as we march into March and we hope that sacred month of April, when most teams are watching and not playing, is a time we are right here doing what we do as our Shockers still have games to play.? Stay tuned.Last edited by forevershockerfan; June 21, 2013, 08:57 PM.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

The defense question from your last post is an interesting one to me. Cotton, Wessel and Baker will be good to very good defenders no doubt. I believe Coleby will be a good defender. Van Vleet was okay last year. Early, Wiggins, and Lufile were suspect…at least by Marshall standards. Our offense will likely be WAY ahead of our team defense when the season starts.Livin the dream

Last but not least, 3G seems very particular about his point guard. Rags (a Juco Transfer) was not handed the reigns on a regular basis until deep into his Junior Season. Therefore, if Mr. Bowles can prove himself early on, then great. Otherwise, if FVV needs a blow, I have no issues with Cotton and Baker playing the 1 and 2 slots as our Freshmen guards develop. They both not only played in the Final 4, but also made us all very happy ShockerNetters against the best of the best players in College Basketball. Originally posted by forevershockerfan View PostNope. Not at all Shox21. However, it is early and I am messenger with limited exposure in search of more developments to see on my own before making unfounded claims. Last summer, Cle rarely caught my eye but look what happened when the bright lights shined down. Moons ago, John Cooper never once impressed me in a summer scrimmage, but was a very solid game-time player for us. By and by I will keep watching because 3G has a knack for recruiting gems that blend into our System quite well. This includes Freshmen players. Baker was a Freshman maker. Mr. Bowles should, could, be the same, but my limited observation is a work in process. I need to see more and if Sub is not worried, neither am I. Time is on our side and we have so much depth that the sky is the limit on various line-up possibilities. It is a nice issue to have and 3G does that with the best of them .

It is great fun to come here to the 'Shocker yottabyte well of scoop' to glean insights and information. We know on paper we will be solid next year. We will see just how it all unfolds on the hardwood. It will be here before we know it. It is finally fully sinking in how we overcame incredible odds and made the Final 4. The good Doc had a vision on SN and our players pulled together and made it a banner year to always remember. MANY of those same players will be joined by a talented goup of new players to try for an encore and we hope and dream for a surpass. U like?Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
