Actually the next few years are crucial for WSU making a move to a better conference, let alone capitalizing on the FF run. Ironically in looking to leave the MVC, the MVC's strength in the meantime becomes even more important to us. We need a strong rpi and decent-good seeds in the tourney. The Valley is not going to help us get those things, but how badly it hurts us is important. I want as many Valley teams top 100 as possible; those who don't make it, I definitely want 100-150, not 250+.

But I agree insofar as I will be rooting for Mueller to keep getting pummeled in conference (though like many here I like a lot of ISUr fans ).

You must be staying away from the Valley boards. The good Redbird fans are being drowned out by the demented moronic ones there which is causing me to disassociate from Illinois State more and more.
          Deuces Valley.
          ... No really, deuces.

He's definitely putting his own stamp on the program. Now when Illinois State fails every last shred of blame is entirely on him.

Usually a coach can blame the first few rough years on the previous coach not giving him the talent he needed to work with his system, or just not giving him talent at all. Instead he took a team that was picked 2nd in conference, took them to 6th, and has now run just about every player he didn't recruit out of the program. Success or failure is ALL on him next year.

Its good to know that we have so many people this connected to Illinois State basketball. I would love to know hpw many have have talked to even a single player whobos leaving. Anyone?

Anytime a new regime comes in, there is turnover. That turnover is generally due to someone not wanting to change, not being skilled enough to change, or a combination o the two.

I dont know more than anyone else on here, and I also saw some questionable coaching from Coach Muller. Having recently moved and taken over a fairly high performing team myself, i can relate a little. You dont want to tinker too much right away, but as time goes on you learn more. Then you make some changes that people dont like. Then performance dips below expectations. Then you have a choice. Are you confident that the changes you made are for the best? If not, change back to try to retrieve the earlier success. If yes, then stay the course and coach your team accordingly. I turned over half my team in a year, and we are now up 25% YoY.

The whole point is that we are stuck in the Valley for at least the near future. We need then to be good to help pick up the slack for CU leaving. Dont throw then under the bus yet. Remember that Jank never had much success there either. Inflating wins by scheduling home cupcakes.

Maybe this is for the good of everyone, including the Valley. Maybe its not. But dont rush to quick to judge. How many people wanted Ron Baker or Tekele Cotton? Think some wish they could have gotten them?
