I'm really glad it looks like we get to hang onto Jans for one more year for the reason people keep talking about in the Loyola thread. It is a really crucial stretch in our program's history. We need to cement the reputation of the program following the FF and make the most of this moment to get the h*** out of Dodge.

You have to root for your assistants to move up to head coaching jobs out of respect for them and what it says about the program. But Jans will find a great situation as a head coach eventually and we are very lucky to have him (probably) stick with WSU for a while longer.

How many former Bill Self assistants are out there coaching and how many are successful? I can only name Manning and Hiinson as of late, but it doesn't seem like a hotbed of talent for coaches. Kind of a chicken sh** hire if you ask me.

I would have liked to have seen Jans get the gig, but Im sure Dooley must know a little something about BBall.

I think head coaches with a lot of cache, like Self, can influence this process quite a bit. Although it doesn't always work. If I remember correctly 'ol Roy was pretty pissed when we overlooked one of his assistants to hire Smithson. Good times.
