It's been a while since I posted but I have to share a story about our coach.
Beginning in late summer 2012, my father became very ill. For the better part of 3 months, he was in the hospital and was ready to give up several times. Being 10 hours away up in MN, I could only make it down once to see him.
When I walked in with two of my three boys with me, my father began to cry, thinking we were coming to say our goodbyes. After I assured him that was not the case and after my "stern" pep talk to knock off the wanting to die crap, dad began to update me in the shocks. I follow SN daily, but the joy in his face made me just stop and let him glow about our team.
When I got home, I needed to do something more about my dad, so, I thought I'd write coach and share my dads story. Being a pastor, my parents lived all over (Lawrence, Champaign, and Columbia) never losing their love for our shocks. With my story, I asked coach if there was anything he might be willing to do, just to bring a man some joy and added reason to keep fighting.
Two weeks later, a letter arrived at my parents house from OUR COACH. he encouraged him and thanked him for his years of unwavering support. The letter, signed by Gregg Marshall was also signed by all the players with added thoughts of encouragement.
Proudly displayed in my parents home, this letter is invaluable.
No matter what happens tonight or Monday, we can be proud of our coach. He is a great man and we have a great group of fine young men who wear WICHITA STATE across their chests of which we can be proud of.
