FWIW, I worked about 4 miles from his school and watched him play a few times. Really fun to watch. He is one of those players you love if he is on your team but hate if he is playing against you. He's a little small, but can shoot all day. Will be following him, I hope he does well for you all.

What do you mean by the love/hate thing? Does he have a swagger that rubs people the wrong way? Emotional? I look forward to having him here but your comment caught my eye and I'm just curious as to what causes that love/hate thing with him..

            That.

In his last regular season game at EE Smith, he checked with a ref to make sure the guy guarding him had 4 fouls, then he made it his sole priority to foul that kid out. Took about two trips down the court, but he got him out. Nothing wrong with that. Then he said something to the kid as he was taking his seat on the bench. Don't know what was said, but the EE Smith bench flipped out and was begging for a T. I enjoy seeing it (as long as it doesn't cross a certain line), the older rich alumni type from Southern Illinois or whoever won't like it at all though. There is also the possibility of playing around much better competition, or Marshall may say something to him and humble him and you won't see anything. I'm not real sure who to compare him to. I'm not saying he is a Marshall Henderson (though I am in the minority of being a big fan of his) if that makes you feel any better.

As long as he doesn't get too carried away, I don't mind a little swagger and talk. As long as he doesn't get too carried away and I know 3G will make sure he knows the line

You say Rian pissed a bunch of people off while walking home with the prize? Sounds like HCGM recruited yet another player in his own mold. I love it!

I don't think there is much I could enjoy MORE than a kid who says "hey ref, he has 4 fouls, right?" And then proceeds to take it to the rack on that kid, drawing the 5th. I want to see that in live action at the CKA.

The photo of Rian reminds me of Demetric.

This is great strategy. I am a firm believer for teams to recognize a foe with 4 fouls, and feed the ball to whomever he is guarding, and draw just one more foul. The sooner the better

When I watched Rian play last summer, I loved his shooting touch and range. This coming summer, I truly hope all of our Shocks work on throws and shooting as a high priority. Mr. Cotton has saved our bacon more that once with his hard work in the gym. Shooting may not me a lost art, but you see the improvements that Wessel and Cotton made, it makes me want more of that with every player we have.

Last but not least, I like the way Marshall recruits players to his System. Part of that equation is guards that can play both the 1 and 2. Even when FVV enters the game at the pg slot, Mr. Armstud slides over to the 2 spot and then you have more assists getting ready to happen, but yet they both can score the rock.

Just for the record, Rian is from South View High. His AAU coach is the coach at Laney High.
