Creighton will also be making more in TV money than we would in this conference, but I still think our compensation would be good enough. I'd have to see those numbers before completely jumping on board.
IIRC, it was for the entire athletic dept. And I want to say the number was $187k. CU has all the team sports WSU has, plus soccer (basically, sports that play a "league" schedule). So I would think the total would be even less for WSU, maybe in the $150k range. Since there aren't league schedules for sports like track, CC, tennis and golf, travel isn't really affected.

Words cannot describe the enthusiasm of my support for a move to the MWC or Big East Leftovers.

          This...

My biggest concern with the Current/soon to be old Big East is they seem to just take anybody so they can be relevant with football. Leadership looks really shaky so Im timid.

But I agree with everything Sub has said about it

It would be a very unstable conference, without a doubt.

However, I think it'll be more stable over time. Simply put, there aren't going to be that many more expansion movements for a while. UConn and Cinci are definite expansion targets for the big conferences, but the rest aren't. The ACC is done expanding until another conference takes teams from them. Eventually another conference will poach from the ACC, and that might start the ball rolling again ... but there aren't many other teams in this conference that are going to be an option for big time football.

I love the people on that Big East thread that are talking about how football drives the bus, and blaming basketball for the state of the Big East TV contract. Basketball wasn't the problem ... administrative egotism that caused you to turn down an ESPN deal making several times what you're making now was the problem. If you'd taken that deal, you might have kept the C7. Instead, the C7 realized that they were a bigger brand than the Conference USA teams that were watering down their TV contract. The new Big East isn't going to have much of a football TV deal, regardless ... it's just not going to be a good football conference. But it CAN be a good basketball conference, with a decent TV contract, and numerous NCAA shares. Basketball and football are very different animals ... the new Big East can compete nationally in basketball. They cannot compete nationally in football. Easy to see which would actually make them money.

UIC has the best facilities and budget than anyone in the HL. They just got millions donated to improve their baseball stadium. They have on campus baseball, softball and soccer fields. Obviously the Chicago market is a plus. They haven't had the best attendance numbers and tradition, but moving to a better conference may improve that.

I still say to get three teams (like Detroit and Belmont). This would also help to offset any future losses the Valley suffers, namely us when we go to greener pastures ;)

UMKC, UIC, Oral Roberts, and Valparaiso are all bad choices.

I think that we should wait a year and see what happens with Dayton and St.Louis for sure. If they were for sure leaving the A10 (like Xavier and Butler this year), they would have left this year too. Unless (and this is only speculation) the A10 worked out an agreement that only two would leave this year and two next. The payout for St.Louis and Dayton wouldn't be any bigger than Xavier and Butler. I've seen speculation and rumor but nothing official on this.

I believe most conferences have a larger buyout to leave a conference immediately rather than giving a timeframe for departure.

Note the difference in West Virginia leaving the Big East from Syracuse and Pittsburgh. Syracuse and Pitt told the Big East they were leaving, but gave them a few seasons to get their affairs in order first (and are now leaving earlier than planned because the BE added teams to compensate quickly). WVU departed immediately, though, because the B12 needed a team immediately, and they ended up in court over it and had to pay much more than the other two.

The issue with Butler/X vs Saint Louis/Dayton could be as simple as Butler/X being willing to pay more for the immediate jump, because the C7 needed them immediately, whereas Dayton/Saint Louis could afford to wait until the buyout decreased.

And to piggy-back your astute comment, GoShockers89 - Words cannot describe my feelings about staying in this backsliding conference. Nothing wrong in being king of the hill, but not when there is no hill.
