These videos aren't about bashing the Hawks in this moment, Kung Wu. This is our history, namely about the last time we advanced to the Elite Eight. It just so happens it was against KU.Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Jay Jackson
Jay Jackson is being humble about his role with the Shox in the 81 Battle of New Orleans win over KU. What he didn't say here is that he played the role of the defensive stopper for the WSU team. In this game, he held KU's Tony Guy to 7 points & this was the same Tony Guy who lit up Byron Scott of ASU in KU's prior game with AZ State. Scott went on to play in the NBA for several years, so for Jay to shut down Tony Guy was a big deal. Without that, the Shocks might not have been close to the point where Mike Jones great shot would have helped win the game.

Here is an interesting mental exercise. How would the 1981 team in its tournament run and this year's tournament run team match up, if they could play each other? I know styles of play and level of physicality are quite different in the decades, and another question would be which type of shorts have to be worn, but who would have the edge?Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss

Just watched this whole thing with my 22 year old son. First time he had seen me play in any college game. Although I didn't play very well it was great seeing this with him. He couldn't believe the dunk Antoine had over Johnny Crawford. It was an AWESOME dunk!!! Also was priceless to see his jaw drop open when I ran into Darnell and said, " Oh my God, Dad, that was really close. Darnell is a liittle ***** and it was a block." Loyal son!!! Thanks again for posting.

Valeri's father passed away in January. He as a HUGE Shocker fan. I spoke with her quite a bit during this time. She is a lobbyist in D.C. and doing very well. I lived with her father and my aunt while I went to WSU. He is up in heaven enjoying every second of this and trying to make deals for a national championship!!! Thanks for posting. That was funny! I'm so glad you and your son enjoyed it, Jay! That you, an HONORED member of that 1981 team, could relive it is all the compensation I would ever need to hear. Knowing that the many legions of Shocker fans can enjoy that moment again as well is just icing on the cake. And to have a team once again at that level is something special for the new Shocker generations. My five year old heard me mention during the game last night that if they went on to win, they would become a legendary team in Shocker history. He just states "the Shockers are legends."Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. ~Dr. Seuss
