As we consider the success of the Shox this Season, we think way back when we hired a solid Coach and recruiter in Coach Gregg Marshall. What a blessing to have Armstead and Baker pay their own way last Season and practiced with our team so they could play for us this Season. Then we were shocked when Carl Hall was released by the NCAA to be eligible this very Season. Carl in return worked hard to be in the best shape ever and overcame an injury during the Season and has been a major leader for us. Then we can be thankful that Ron Baker made it back in time from his injury to give us a huge boost that was truly of essence.
When I begin to really think this team was very special in terms of winning, was when we marched into VCU and beat them at their barn. VCU had returned most of their players but yet we found a way as road warriors do, to win this big game. Then without 3 starters later, our other players filled in the gaps and we just kept right on winning most of our games through it all.
Then there was the 3 game skid. Maybe it takes such a setback to get the bumps in the road ironed out that teams face to regroup and pull together. One thing is for sure. This is already a Season to remember and we are not done yet. We still have a few critics left to convince out there. When this NCAA tourney begins with around 64 teams, there is a flood of attention going out. Now that flood light is a more narrow 16 degree beam. Soon it will be a narrow spotlight of an 8 degree beam, etc. The Pub. we are now receiving has magnified and is very advantageous for our Program. No team left standing is an island. The teams that execute and peak now in the match-ups they face will be the ones that keep winning because all of the Sweet 16 teams are very, very good squads. I like our bracket and our chances to win games, and I love our Shockers.Last edited by forevershockerfan; March 26, 2013, 11:49 PM.Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.
